by Anna F. on Being able to walk to Top Flr is one of the reasons I may never move. This restaurant is perfection: swanky but cozy and intimate atmosphere, impressive wine list & fun cocktails, a tuna tartar appetizer that I crave like a pregnant lady at least a couple times a week, super friendly (& cute!) servers (a big party of us even celebrated NYE here and we couldn't have asked for a more hospitable bar and wait staff). Just go... get the tuna, the hanger steak or lamb entrees, and their famous mac 'n' cheese and have a fun and delicious time.
by Vi Y. on It's so weird how the bars in NYC are upstairs, so when you're at the bottom, you really can't tell there's a bar upstairs. After leaving Maru, we still wanted to hang out, so I looked on my phone for Third Floor Cafe. When we got to the address, it looked like a lobby to a hotel or apartment complex, but once you go up to the 3rd floor, it opens up to a small lounge. The atmosphere here was more lively. It was more packed, and the bar was completely full. The ratio of guys to girls was better here, but it was still mostly guys. Their prices were a bit cheaper than at Maru, with food around $15-20, beer around $6-7, and mixed drinks around $10. I wish we could have tried some of the food here, but we were already stuffed. I liked this bar more than Maru, since it felt more cozy. Maru felt more Ikea-ish, wannabe sleek, but really not all that with the lights turned on. I would come back to Third Floor Cafe. I just wish I had some friends in NYC to go drinking with. Drinking and people watching with hubby isn't as fun as getting sloshed with friends. :)
by Jose Packard on This is such a great club. It's comfortable, the sound is good, there is the option to sit at a table for mellow shows and whenever I come here I feel like I have stepped into the era of the bar from the Shining. I mean this in a good way of course.
