Romantic, low-key, hidden wonder. My date and I came through the kitchen after dining at El Rey, so sneaking through the place kind of added to the whole mysterious feel of going to a speakeasy. First things I noticed are the music, the lighting, and the atmosphere. Loved them all equally. I didn't mind the barely there lighting-I thought it added more than it took away. After taking our seats in a cozy two-person booth, we were greeted by a pleasant server who took our orders, but also suggested a few different drinks when my date inquired about their stock of Chartreuse. I had the Bramble (made with gin, lime juice, and bramble-berry). It was mixed with their own crafted crushed ice. My date had The Last Word, which was made with Chartreuse, gin, and a couple other things, as recommended by the bar tender, and it was delicious. He also got La Ultima Palabra, which is almost the same as the Last Word, but made with tequila instead. And then came The Final Ward. Another Chartreuse drink made with whiskey. All these cocktails were made very well and they didn't taste like they were watered down at all. Definitely get your money's worth, even though some may argue that they are a bit pricey ($9-12 ea). But I think you're paying for the atmosphere too, which I didn't mind at all. Very cozy and pleasant. Would definitely recommend to another couple, but definitely not a place to go to with a parent...

I had the best time here ever! Came with my girls and we danced the night away. The music was excellent except for those techno moments but all in all, def worth the $10 reduced guest fee price. The bathroom is clean and a great concept. Caution- drinks are super pricey!!

I have been to World Cafe Live several times. I have never been upstairs but downstairs is great. The food is good and the sound is fantastic. Another review mentioned a mandatory food purchase but I have not experienced that. Perhaps it varies with the different shows. I saw Levee Drivers play for a small crowd and my sister and I only ordered a couple drinks. The best thing about World Cafe Live is the music and the opportunity to see artists- some are well known and some lesser known. There is not a bad seat in the house and the music is great!
