this was a fun well put together club. the music was great and the staff was helpful. the bars were well stocked and had easy on the eye bartenders. the club did get a little over crowded toward the end of the night but still left a little wiggle room to dance. there is a nice lounge with open sealing smoke area upstairs wear you can get away from the large crowd to dance and drink. i would hang out here with friends again.

I came here in Saturday night, which was obviously a mistake. The beer garden was nice, but our waitress was frantic and miserable. By 11 I was ready to leave because drinks were taking way too long. Next time, I'm definitely coming in a weeknight. The food was actually pretty good. I ordered the tuna burger, but I also sampled the fried chicken, cornbread, macaroni & cheese and the specialty pizza (duck & roasted strawberries). My favorite thing was the cornbread, which has jalapenos baked in it and comes with a drizzle of honey on top. It was absolutely decadent. The mac & cheese was also a standout- it is creamy, but not runny, and had a garlic breadcrumb crust. The fried chicken was good, too, very tender and flavorful. The drinks, on the other hand, were tragically watered down. I'm hoping it was because it was a Saturday and they didn't want people to get super drunk. Still, my watermelon punch and sangria were very weak, not cool. I'm like a half-drink-drunk and after three drinks, not even a buzz. So I switched to champagne in a can, cause I'm classy. I think I'll stick to bottled/canned drinks here in the future. It was a mixed bag, but I'm willing to give Silk City another chance to impress me.

I was here Saturday night for a friends birthday bash. I parked in a lot on 8th and Neches and had to walk to Beauty Bar. It's been a while but the vibe and the energy walking down Red River was awesome. I walked past Headhunters, I could hear the live music pouring out of here. I turned onto 7th and walked past a couple of bars, Side Bar and Red 7, which happen to have a band I haven't listened to in a while playing live, Brujeria, Mexican death metal. I walk up to Beauty Bar and they have a great patio. I like the retro beauty salon look to this place. We had a big group of us occupying the sunken lounge area with 4' X 6' table/dance floor in the center. They had a couple bottles of vodka with somebody pouring drinks for us. I hit up the bar for some Lone Star, I thought I would save the vodka for the ladies. $3 tall boys I'll take that any day. I'm not much of a DJ person, hell I wouldn't be able to tell you the difference between a good club DJ and a DJ from a Quinceanera, but I think my education has begun. DJ Mel (i think that was his name) was really good. I would have to say from about 11:30pm til the end of the night the dance floor was packed. There was a really great mix of people in the place, but it didn't matter to me, we had about 18-22ppl hanging out with us. I had a blast. If you would of told me on 5:30pm on that day driving into Austin that at 1am I would be on a table dancing with a Lone Star in one hand and the other hand in the air, I would have said...Fuck that! Anyhow that was me having a good time. Towards the end of the night I decided to get some air out back and found a really good band playing. El Ten Eleven was a great change of pace. I discovered a really good band out back and I found out a DJ spinning isn't all bad, don't be so quick to judge. Beauty Bar had it all on this evening.
