I had soooooo much fun here! Me and my friend decided to come here as we were just chilling at his place bored. We drank in the car before we came in because we're cheap like that lol. He's been here many a times before so I knew to leave my phone at home, not even in the car because it's a part of LA that's a little sketchy, but whatever. I deducted a star because the place is a little small for the amount of people that show up and I felt a little suffocated at times. I like that the girls are real. I don't recall seeing any fake ta-ta's. I mean if fake ta-ta's are your thing then fine. I prefer to look at real women. Anyways, got a bomb ass lap dance from a sexy ass girl with big boobies and a nice booty. All this for $20 bucks for like 10 mins. Awwwwww shhhhhiiiiiitttttttt. I met so many funny cool people here and actually cant wait to come back again.

Pretty swank! A really nice live music venue with FANTASTIC sound design. This is a place that was meant to have live bands playing. The dance floor is awesome, and all the tables are pretty nice as well (though it sucks that a bunch of the ones up front were reserved and no one sat at them all night). Cool bouncers / servers (as long as you don't loiter outside the yellow tape on the ground marking the walkways). I mean really -- how some of those waitresses walked around in *those* boots all night, I'll never know. Didn't try the food, but the drinks were WAAAAAAAY overpriced and not that good. Even the beer was disappointing -- $7 for a bottle of Guinness & it's flat. Geez. But. I'll *definitely* be back for the music if someone I like is playing there. :)

I didn't eat at Amalia; I'm reviewing for the late night lounge/dancing downstairs. The DJ alone would have gotten 5 stars. He was actually a dj...no Mac laptop in sight, and he kept a high energy mix of hip hop, reggae, and a sprinkling of house coming all night. Where the place goes wrong is... They let way too many people in for the small space, and there is no dance floor, so while you're trying to dance you really end up shuffling here and there as people pass you to get to the bar, to their friends, to the bathroom, to anywhere but where they are. And there seemed to be an abundance of girls with day-sized purses on. Ladies- what happened to a nice clutch or wristlet for evening? My friends and I all but got black and blues from being constantly hit in the back with huge bags hanging from the shoulders of dancing girls. Second bad point: my standard Grey Goose & club soda: $14!!! I wonder how much a martini was... Third, and worst of all: there was a crowd of people who insisted on smoking. They were clearly from Long Island...maybe you're still allowed to smoke in bars out there? The bouncer seemed to either not care or not notice, but someone needed to tell these people that they were in Manhattan, not Massapequa. Besides, lighting a match next to all that hair gel was probably a personal safety hazard. I would go back just for the dj, because he was THAT good, but the rest of the place I could do without.
