by jason b. on i saw designer drugs here last night. it was a great time. the venue is big and has multiple stages which helped move the opening acts along smoothly without having to wait too much time between them. the sound was banging. bass hit hard but did not distort the highs or mids. i think its cool how you can literally get right up to the stage and basically touch the dj equipment (i wouldnt try doing that because it will get you kicked out immediately) but what i am trying to say is its effen sick that you can get that close. there was a good mix of people there. a lot of club type and scene kids mixed with some hipsters. but also a surprisingly amount of douchebags that literally sat there and fist pumped for 4 hours straight (now i am not averse to the fist pump--in fact i am a proud supporter--but if its the only move in your repertoire... uhhh) it is cool to see people who are not totally about the scene start to get into it. so thats cool. but srsly WTF is with the people who butt their way to the front of the stage so they can just stand there? i dont get it. and to be honest you do not want to be standing front row having no idea whats going on when the beat out of nowhere drops and some dirty bass line kicks and all hell breaks loose. me tho. i live for those moments. one big problem that i had was the fact that they were charging 3 bucks for bottled water and did not have water available at some of the bar stations. i do not need to explain the problems with charging people for water to begin with but add to that it was an electronic music concert and you can see where there can be hugggge problems. oh yea and i saw some drunk chick on the stage slap this kid dancing in the front row multiple times. needless to say she was kicked off stage and out of the show. but srsly? boooo to violence. i liked mezzanine. ill def be back.
by Shaunda Qare on Tried Flip out today. I had the falafal patty with fries, Megan had the shrimp po boy burger with onion rings. My sandwich was bland. Liked the fresh crispy veggies on it. I would prefer to see patty crispy rather than limp. Maybe flip likes it limp. The burgers I saw others eating looked kind of grey and under done. The fries were good. Megan liked her shrimp patty. Onion rings were nice and thin with good onion flavor. I hate restaurants like flip that bring you a tablespoon of catsup. Come on, burgers and fries need way more sauce than that. I thought $30 was a bit steep as we had no alcohol. Oh, and it's loud in here too. We ate on the patio which was nice, but the music was cranked throughout.
by Lewis Tacneau on We dined here on our anniversary and lucky us, Michael Mina himself was in the house. The naan bread was like a buttery pretzel. I'm glad we didn't do the tasting because it seemed a bit off that night. The couple next to us had to take courses back since they kept getting repeats. Overall, we had an enjoyable meal. No complaints on this end. I would definitely come back with gfs to hang out and people watch.
