I wonder how many people come here because they've heard about the mechanical bull. That was the only reason why we came here last night. I feel as though I didn't get to see Viva at its best, since it wasn't too crowded. I also was not feeling the music the DJs were playing. I liked the space though, it has very high ceilings, plenty of places to sit, and a disco ball, which is always a plus in my book. Their security personnel were not the friendliest of people. They had that tough guy attitude, which cost them a star.

Went to Club Eight for their HYP Saturdays just this past weekend (6/27) for Pride week with some friends who happen to be lesbians and I was really amazed on how mixed the crowd was! I thought it was going to be a room full of hot gay guys, but actually there was a great mix of gay, lesbian and straight people there! Everyone I spoke with told me that HYP was a new weekly event on Saturdays which I had never heard of until my friends told me about it. We got there pretty early so it was kinda dead but there was no cover either too so that was nice. They also had 2 for1 drinks which I was pleasantly suprised about. I've never been to this club before and although it was kind of small, it had a nice cozy vibe to it as well and eventually it got a nice size crowd inside. The music was great, mostly Hip Hop with some R&B and Top 40 mixed in. The DJ even played some Michael Jackson songs as a tribute to his recent death, so I thought that was very cool! The only thing I didn't like was thay they had a dance group perform during the middle of the night, but I wasn't quite feelin them. Not that they were bad dancers, they were actually very good! But stopping the music to watch them dance just kind of killed the vibe for me and my friends and it almost felt like we were at a talent show or something for a bit there. They stopped the music twice to have the dancers perform which is why we finally decided to leave after the second time they stopped the music. But the DJ who was spinning that night gave us all a free HYP mix cd which I listened to on my way home! Awesome CD by the way! So free cover, cheap drinks, poppin music and a free mix cd! What more could I ask for? It was a great night! I would give it 5 stars, but I would have preferred that they not stop the music for the dancers. It just killed the energy for me. But I would definitely come back again!

First of all, totally impressed with the bouncers. They were nice, called me sweetie (nicely), and looked me in the eye. As opposed to looking past you and shooing you in like cattle while they mentally calculate how much to overcharge groups of guys who are still in line. Cover was $10 for the boys on a Saturday night. DJ was good and played a good mix in the dancing room. Wasn't a fan of the strobe light situation but maybe I'm just sensitive to flashy lights. And... yes. Didn't really have a problem with the vibe there since we rolled in with a huge group so we did our own thing. And don't really remember much except for how much my feet hurt from my shoes. Not even expensive but strong rum and cokes could help that. Meh. We came here because it was convenient. Probably wouldn't ever go again, but I like. It's a nice space. Park on the north side of Wilshire because on the south side it's all parking passes only. I bet the parking lot attendants put the "no nightclub parking" signs up just so you have to park in their lot. It's only $5 for parking, but that plus $10 for cover and all this for mid-Wilshire?
