This is a fun place, but there are some problems. I've eaten here before and the food is ok, but I come for the atmosphere. The margaritas however are nothing to shout about. In fact they are pretty bad. They pale in comparison to El Compadre or El Carmen's. Here's a good TIP. Never make reservations on a weekend after 8:00. We had reservations for 9:30 and we were told to come early as they could probably fit us in. We got there around 8:30. The funny thing is that we met other couples with 9:30 reservation at the bar and they were told the same thing. We all fell for the oldest scam in the book. Get them to the bar early and make them wait. By the time 10:30 rolled around without being seated we all had had enough and went somewhere else to eat. Point being, on weekends they basically have two seatings "early" and "late". They have a hard time turning tables here because people come to eat and they tend to hang out at their table all night. Customer service was also weak.

For some reason, I like to take conservative businessmen and friends from Texas to this restaurant. I find that I enjoy watching them as much or more than the show. You can learn a lot about a person at Asia SF. The show is fun. If you are from 99% of the world, you have never seen anything like this. That alone should be reason to go. This is how it works. First, you need reservations. Do NOT walk up and expect to get a table. That might happen, but the chances are slim. Yes, this is a restaurant/bar, but it is also a show and seats are limited. I have seen them turn people away as I was checking-in. Next, you should know that there is a minimum drink or food order. I cannot remember exactly how it works because we always exceed the minimums pretty heavily, but know before you go. Finally, go with an open mind and don't take things too seriously. Just relax and have fun. I have seen really uptight people loosen up and have a blast here. Everybody I have taken appreciated the experience on one level or another. If you are having a great time at dinner and want the party to continue, there is a club downstairs that goes until the wee hours of the morning. I have not spent much time there, but the few drunken moments I did enjoy were very memorable.

I had such a great time at the restaurant in The Park. I came on Saturday night around 830 with the bf and another couple. Our reservations had been for 9, but my friend's gallery closed early, so we headed over, expecting to drink at the bar for a while. They actually had a table open for us, and we were seated immediately. Normally, that doesn't bode well. But while the restaurant was hoppin, it was never noisy, crowded, or uncomfortable. The service was excellent and never overbearing. The food was extremely reasonably priced and all of our appetizers (pizza with arugala & prosciutto, steamed artichoke with lemon beurre blanc), entrees (blackened catfish, braised short rib, yellowfin tuna), and desserts (profiteroles, banana wontons) were delicious! The banana wontons were especially outrageous, given the chocolate and caramel dipping sauces, which the men of our party devoured long after the wontons were gone.
