Mezzanine saved my night! The club down the street was dead, and Mezzanine was exactly what I needed. It was $15 to get in which sucks and you can't leave and come back. The drink "specials" also weren't really specials. That's the only reason I can't give it 5 stars. Otherwise the music sounds so amazing on their system. There was tons of room to move around because the floor is so big. Had that many people been in a smaller club it would have been shoulder to shoulder. I liked being able to walk around freely, and everyone I met was really nice. They have an outside smoking area where you can actually hear people. The bathrooms were clean, I was impressed by that. The music was live and ranged from glitch hop to grime to electro house to some good old-fashioned trigger pad button mashing. Just go! Also don't listen to anyone who says it's in a sketchy part of town, just ignore the crackheads and yell at them if they don't go away but they are harmless around there.

4 stars. for 18+ Thursday Nights at Highlands. unfortunately i have a year left until i turn 21 soo i havent experienced 21+ nights here. but i mostly spend my thursdays nights here. crowd is full of Asians. the line is goes by really quick. dance floor size is legit, smoking area outside is too. the only negative thing i have to say is all that escalator i have to go up & down on just to get here. getting there is fine, but the walk back to the parking lot is a killlller after a whole night of dancing in heels ;(

It's hard to rate this club because it's trying to be something it's not, but it's not completely failing. Like every other place you go to, you have to realize it's strengths and it's weaknesses... and only go there for it's strengths. The facts you should know are these: If you go to Suite 181 any time before 1am, you're wasting your time. This place is often open until 4am, so this makes the place an excellent (legal) alternative for some after hours dancing. No, you won't get liquor, but yes, you will get some good music. Downstairs this club reminds me of a Brooklyn house party. It's hot; it's sweaty; it's packed; it's filled with people who can dance; it's filled with people who love to dance; it's got it's share of hoochies and it's got it's share of asshole guys; and it's got hip hop. Damn does it have hip hop. The after hours music in this club single-handedly gets this place three stars. I miss Brooklyn. There's a smoking deck out back for those of you who are jonesing for a fix. Either way, though, it's a nice place to chill in the summer time after you've gotten your shirt soaked with sweat from dancing too much. Guys: the girls are cool. It's definitely a different mixture and a lot of them are on their guard a little bit too much, but every girl I've met there has been real cool. Girls: yeah, there are definitely a couple of douche-bag guys hanging around Suite 181. I totally understand why you have to keep your guard up. Take the usual precautions and you should be alright. This place is not cheap for drinks, though. It's kind of a shame that with all these people coming there that they still charge so much for the drinks. In addition, it takes forever to get a drink on a Friday or Saturday night. Dedicate a good 20 mins to getting a drink when you think about it. So just get two drinks at once so you don't have to go back. This place could be a lot better than it is, but you just have to know it's strengths. If you play it for it's strengths (legal after-hours partying), then you won't have a problem.
