by Josie W. on Not my thing. House/Techno is not the type of music I listen to personally. There tends to be a ton of older men here too. The decor is beautiful and I guess you should come here for the experience mostly because this is San Francisco's supposed "IT" club. It's pretty famous. Gogo dancers were cool, but I find it weird when the crowd/men stare at the gogo dancers all night and some even film them. If you love house/techno, besides it being on the pricier side, then go on in. However, this is not my thing.
by Julia K. on LOVE the decor. Ever feel like you wanted to be part of a movie? An early 20th century oldie film?! Well then go on over to the Edison! A group of my friends and I were celebrating two birthdays and our college graduation! We went on a Wednesday night just because we knew it wouldn't be crowded in order to not have to go to the trouble of making a reservation. There was also plenty of street parking available. BIG CLUE FOR FIRST TIMERS: the entrance is in an alleyway past the actual address. If you're not coming here on Thursday nights for the drink specials, then prepare to bring your credit card. Each of their special house cocktails are $14 each. My favorite was the Mistress Nouveau which had champagne in it (mmm) among other ingredients that formed a long list! The Edison (drink) was good, but very strong...not for those who don't like bourbon. Their food isn't cheap either, but sooo delicious. We ordered two sampler plates which gave us a little bit of everything as well as an order of fries and mac 'n cheese with truffle oil! YUM! That's some darn good umami flavor right there! We ended up only staying for a little under 2 hours. We bought so many drinks for our two friends celebrating their birthdays that one of them threw up in the glorious sink that was right before you enter the bathrooms...he was kicked out by one of the bouncers. A few of us stayed in not knowing what happened. I started getting weird feelings when a couple of bouncers kept circling around our area for a while watching us...pretty much making sure no one else was getting wasted or they'd kick us all out. So when we found out our friend's little incident, we all left, went outside and lo and behold, found our two friends at the corner of the street puking together in one trash can. How cute.
by Demetra Murasso on My body is sore & my feet have blisters. It's more a compliment to DJ Klever, who rocked the club last Saturday night for the MS holiday party. I can't comment on the "usual" club clientele, but I can say Klever did a great job of getting an older group of computer nerds out on that dance floor. I really liked the layout of this club, I'd definitely return to check it out on a regular night. The main room might be a bit small, but there are two overlooks with bars and lounge areas to sit & watch the DJ/crowd. I also loved the other, more intimate dance floor (the "blue room") & it's adjoining bar area with booths. It's always nice to be able to carry on a conversation at a club, rather than constantly screaming over the music. If I had one complaint, it would be lack of bathrooms. We all know that is a necessity when there is alcohol + clubbers on hand.
