You may have just won my heart. Came here for dinner with a friend. Whats better than a monday night with a bottle of wine, steak and an evening with a handsome man? Nothing. Okay fine. Maybe napping. But lets debate that out later. We started with a drink at the bar then had our pick of table. Of course we picked a table with adequate people watching potential. Our server was attentive, friendly and knew his wine. For starters, i had the Shrimp Rice Krispies - admittedly, a choice i made out of pure curiosity. Big succulent shrimp over a bed of popped rice then when served, topped with an amazing tasty sauce - eliciting that snap crackle and pop of the rice krispies. This was fantastic and i could have had that for an entree! I had the bone in steak with the house steak sauce and the sauteed mushrooms and parmesean truffle fries for sides. The steak was fantastic and cooked to perfection. The mushrooms were packed with amazing flavor and a perfect pairing to the steak. The fries (which were highly reccomended to me by friends prior to this dinner) were all parmesean to me, and barely a hint of truffle oil. They were also very thick block cut, which did not cater to this girls love of crunchiness. We passed on dessert and stuck with wine and people watching. I love the ambiance and the service and it was a fantastic place to just enjoy a great meal with some great company. Highly reccomended.

I'll start off by saying: yes, the service here sucks. I don't exactly know why. It's a completely open kitchen, so both kitchen and front-of-house should always know exactly how busy the tables (and each other) are. How do they end up with 4 stars? 5 ambiance + 4 food + 2 service / 3 and rounded up = 4 stars (yes, I'm a bit generous.) We had: 1. tuna tartare (best my husband's every had) and lobster tempura. Both very tasty and items that I would recommend/order again. 2. black cod w/ miso - delicious! 3. wild salmon - I thought it was slightly overcooked, but husband loved it 4. trio of ice cream - who doesn't like ice cream??? The service? Horrendous. I'm glad we had 2 hours to spend before our show (also glad the show started 30 minutes late...) It seems that they just don't have enough wait staff to cover the room. The pacing of the meal was way off - lots and LOTS of time between appetizers and the entrees. They know how many tickets were sold for the upcoming show and that many/most will come in early for dinner. How hard would this be to solve? Again, 4 stars because of the fantastic acts they bring in (Ledisi - yeah!), great club venue, and for some very good food. Service? Meh.

Webster Hall offers something for everyone: some nights it's an amazing venue to see bands like Bright Eyes and Muse, other nights it's a hard-core club scene with three different dance rooms (most Thursdays-Saturdays), others offer XXX Male Revue and Amateur Strip Tease, and still others offer the kitschy Totally Awesome 80s Prom show. Lines form early on nights when ladies get in free before 11pm (Thursdays), so plan accordingly. If you're into a public dating service, also check out their website--a video version of http://match.comshows pictures of eligible lads and ladies on the dance floor TVs for your mating pleasure.
