by Buddy B. on So the skanky, disgusting, filthy, foul, raunchy bar with ugly, creepy, debaucherous freaks & drunks which was "Reflections" (a gay bar) ... has been replaced with skanky, disgusting, filthy, foul, raunchy, ugly, creepy, debaucherous heterosexual freaks & drunks.... the only difference is that now the patrons are attracted to the opposite sex. Why anyone would stand in line to get into such a LOSER bar is unclear to me. Except, of course, you happen to be a skanky, disgusting, filthy, foul, raunchy, ugly, creepy, debaucherous freak or drunk. Regardless of whether the patrons here are heterosexual or homosexual, this is still a tacky, horrible place with a smoke room, bad loud music, and its share of problems. This must be what a high school dance in Hell is like. If you go, be forewarned....you will most likely have a shitty time here. (Hold onto your wallet, and don't leave your drink unattended)
by Paul L. on Even though the selection here doesn't seem to be as big as some of the other locations, I think this is still my favorite Capogiro in town. The decor is better, there are more seats, big windows that let out more light and look out to the park. It's true that when it comes to gelato, there's no place in the city better than Capogiro. They managed to retain classic flavors as well as venturing out to more exotic and experimental ones. For the traditionalist, try Bacio which is chocolate hazelnut which resembles good ol' Nutella, Fior Di Latte is made with milk from the Amish in Lancaster. Pistacchio is nutty and silky. Personally, I like the exotic tropical and the experimental. Thai Coconut Milk is soothing and rich, Mango is creamy and sweet. They have a Lime Cilantro that is highly refreshing and addictive and taste half guacamole like with the Avocado. Occasionally they will have sugar brioche available in which they toast it and cut it in half and serve ice cream inside, which makes for the perfect dessert that I simply adore. Look for it because that will simply blow your mind. Of course, the pricing is a bit on the high side but it's worth it and it can act as a deterrent to eat too much of it and gain weight.
by Ria Bentele on First time there in about a year. Then menu is the same, a nice, somewhat confusing fusion sampling of small plates and large entrees. The food is tasty and the service is fast and friendly. Tonight we brought our kids (10 & 7), and everyone had a good time. I think the ambient music is cranked up a little too loud for conversion, which is little disappointing because the atmosphere there is very communal. Other pluses: shoe string fried potatoes, lobster mac and cheese, desserts and my dinner companions. Minuses: it's a Stephen Starr restaurant. His places are always teetering on the edge of becoming an upscale chain and too gimmicky, and with so many great places to eat in the city, I usually walk away feeling like I should have gone somewhere else. The food is good but loses points on the atmosphere.
