Of all the bars I go to when I'm in San Francisco, this is probably my least favorite. I've been on both Friday and Saturday nights. The drinks are pricey for the Castro, and there's been a cover every time I've gone. For me, it's not worth the money. The music is your typical gay bar/club music. It's loud, so it's not a place to go if you want to talk with friends, but it doesn't have a dance floor either; the physical setup seems pointless to me. There's a huge bar in the center of the room, and people dance and stand around in the aisles that surround it. So people do dance, but then you're sort of dancing in a walkway. It just gets really cramped and you constantly get bumped by people passing through. There is a lounge area - which is usually less crowded - upstairs that looks out over the bar. I feel like this place is trying to copy the LA scene but in the worst possible way. It has a sort of pretentious, uppity air about it that I don't like, and this is coming from someone who's actually from LA. There are just too many other bars to go to in the Castro. I'd pass this one up.

I came here tonight for DineLA. I got lucky and parked at a meter out front. So me and my bfriend sat in the lobby. We just people watched. We were making fun of the people who dressed up but lacked class. Amazes me. Then there was a Grammy Party going on. I only know of 2 people I saw. Samantha Ronson(lindsay lohans DJ friend) and Demi Moores kid. I think her name is Rumor. I had fun people watching, but I have no need to go back.

Aside from the substantial martinis for a less than substantial price, the atmosphere is just about as delicious as a very dry vodka martini in a frosted glass. The scene is diverse and the absence of sex prowling bar hoppers is refreshing. I absolutely love the music talent showcased in the back room however, if you are planning on staying a while I would put your game face on when trying to get a table or the coveted booth in the back! Oh yes, and try their mojitos... you will not be disappointed.
