by Carri Hollberg on This was one of the greatest bars I've ever been to. Awesome decor, great music (the DJ was playing techno typical to many of the European clubs that I've visited. Pakito, Bob Sinclair, etc.). And tons of people. Despite the amount of people and energy of the place, I was surprisingly mobile throughout the bar (didn't feel over-crowded) and was able to order drinks from the bartender very quickly. The only negative, and this is coming from a born and raised Minnesotan, was the price of drinks, but I guess that is typical for New York.
by Edward H. on Coming from an ex-burnt-out party kid who has since recovered and only really goes out specifically to find good music, the Sullivan Room is one of the few places that has brought me out multiple times. I was born and raised in the Midwest where there's a strong affinity toward Techno (Detroit), House (Chicago), and any hybrid of the two. The Sullivan Room keeps it tight with stream of top notch (not pop or mainstream) electronic artists. The dancefloor is pretty large and is usually busy enough to make you want to dance but roomy enough so that you're not stuck with your elbows glued to your ribs. There's usually a cover (check their website), but the lines aren't too long. Also, if it's before midnight, the place may be kind of dead. And to top it off, it's right by the subway making for an easy drunken walk and ride back home.
by Juliette V. on Different nights offer different music themes. A real something for everyong kind of place. The cover charge is low but the dance floor is a little cramped.
