this place used to be great but now if i get talked into going it takes 20 mins for a drink, i'm not exaggerating. I went yesterday at 6pm and ordered a drink, it took 25 minutes, no joke, to get it. When I did finally get it the waitress said it took s long because they had to "grow more grapefruit juice." I don't know what that means but the drink was nasty, i didn't finish it and had to pay 10 bucks for the damn thing. this place is a huge waste of time and money.

Had no idea this place was here - now I am glad I do! Such a fun night! I came around 7:30 on a Thursday and got a lane easily. I had a deal from http://Livingsocial.com; $20/pp for 3 games + shoes, which would normally be about $45 so I was happy. The place was very well kept and clean, words not typically synonymous with bowling alleys! Found all the staff friendly and didn't have a problem finding a waitress to get some beer to go with our bowling. While it is a bit on the pricey side (it is Manhattan though so I don't know why you'd expect it to be cheaper!), it makes for a fun night and I wouldn't hesitate to go back.

I must admit I am surprised by all the negative reviews. It's really not that bad of a venue when you think about it. It's convenient and spacious. As most have pointed out, the sound system may be subpar, but I'm usually in the front drowning in the lead singer's saliva and sweat so to be honest I haven't appreciated the difference. Also, perhaps because of the size of the venue and popularity of bands that play here, the fans seem more energetic here, more than a few times I seriously thought the balcony was going to cave in. The one thing that does irk me the most here is the loud clang of beer bottles being tossed into the trash throughout the shows. My god, you'd think Roger Clemens was back there bartending. True, I've seen a lot more shows at Bowery and like most I prefer it to Webster Hall. In fact, I like almost all other venues more, with the exception of maybe Irving Plaza, where I am usually forced to stand behind one of the beams. Having said that, I've seen some great shows here though, so I'm giving it a five. I was introduced to Iron & Wine's Trapeze Swinger at this venue, how could I possibly give it less than a five? Hope Okkervil River has a great show here tomorrow.
