by Olin Stellpflug on I'm not sure how I still find myself going to 21st birthday parties at da club, but I definitely dread the process of getting in for free (otherwise $20). I gotta sign up on the guestlist, get in line an hour before the guestlist closes, stress about whether we'll get in before the guestlist closes, get into da club right before the cutoff time only to find the place is practically empty. Apparently at Temple, you just have to get in line by 11, but either way I'm getting too old for this... As much as I was dreading going Friday night, I must admit I was quite impressed with Temple. I went to the Prana elite event, so knew of the main white room that serves as a restaurant. There's plenty of seating even if you don't get bottle service...the music upstairs is like world electronic music so not necessarily the most popular area. Downstairs, which was closed off for the event, was HUGE. There's a small room where they play house music and where the real dancers can show off their moves. The designers were smart to put the Top 40 hip hop room in the dark cave-like tomb to keep the smelly, sweaty, grinding dancing contained downstairs. There are a lot of nooks where people can hide and get frisky or barf since those areas usually had puddles of vomit. Temple's a good alternative to all the other big clubs in SF like Suite 181, Ruby Skye and the horrible like. So coming from this old lady who hates this kinda scene, I say book Temple for your next early 20s birthday party...
by Christina C. on Every SF tourist magazine has these glossies ads of AsiaSF and touting the glamor girls that serve. It took me a LONG while to figure it out. In fact, it took an actual visit here to really understand. See, I'm used to drag, and transgender, bu this was a show. They really package the whole experience for you and everyone is so laid back and relaxed. The staff really want the patrons to have a good time. The girls are cheeky and they constantly do shoutouts for bdays, celebrations, where it's about being a little wild, a little cliche but all tongue in cheek. Dinner and several shows. My BF and I came here for our friend's bday with her husband. They are gourmands so the fact that they chose this place means the food stands alone. We were seated right away and the drinks started flowing. The costumes were fantastic, the legs, the boobies, the HAIR. Why can't my hair be like that? After the shows (every hour, on the hour), my BF commented that he *knows* but some of the legs got him all confused. He was having...unpure thoughts. I was surprised at how it was flashy but not a dive-atmosphere. It was really fun and the food was good. They have tons of sake selections too.
