Last night, I danced for over 4 hours straight.  And I mean straight, non-stop.  I haven't done that in awhile!  But then...I haven't wanted to!  Awesome DJ, packed house but enough space to dance, good drinks.  Crowd was there for the music, the moves, and no BS.  Lots of reviews on here already about the breakdown of the tunes...it's still the same.  Cover is still $5...and we had to wait a bit to get in, but it was worth it.  And I have the blisters to prove it. This was a recommendation from a friend that gave us the caveat "but it's a hole in a wall"...and so it is.  But it's a hole in a wall I'll be back to!

Oh Temple, how clever of you to let the lines wrap three times around the block to make it seem like it's the hottest spot in town AND make people pay $20 for cover because they didn't make it in by 11pm. Got there at 9:50pm and finally got inside after almost an hour. When we got inside, it was not crowded at all. Shady bastards... The venue is admittedly nice but the rooms that they did splurge on are the ones with not that many people dancing in them. The hip-hop/r&b room is just like a basement with black walls adorned with a Buddha in the middle and white couches on the side. I don't know how they've been able to keep this scam going for almost two years. The jig is up! It's a nice place but not worth  getting ready an hour earlier than usual to arrive to an empty club or waiting in line for more than an hour and paying $20.

As luck would have it, Biscuit & Blues (B&B) is often overlooked as the loud, annoying neighbors overshadow its presence (Slide & Ruby Skye). It's a decent venue (reminds me of a smaller Punch Line in terms of how the place is laid out). I am a pretty upbeat, positive person so the last place anyone would find me would be at a blue place. It'd take something out of the ordinary to get me to come out here - that something is world music night (Wednesdays). Last night happened to showcase some Brazilian samba dancers for the first hour and my favorite Cuban salsa band - Rumbache. I did not get to see the samba perfomance, but I saw them salsa dance and damn can those women shake their ass! With a capacity for about 80-100 people, this place was pretty can seem a little crammed but luckily it was a slow night and there was plenty of space to sit and dance (5 couples could dance comfortably at any given time). I had a good time here with my friend but I usually do given the right company and music. I probably would not come back unless it was for their world music night. There is a cover charge in addition to a drink minimum during the week. I can't really knock the dance floor since it's not really a dancing venue - it's a blues place after all.
