While I'm all for calling out over-priced restaurants who lack in almost every department, I've got to say that Spice Market doesn't fall into this catagory. I can't understand all lot of the negative comments. We have been to Spice Market twice and have had only good experiences both with the food quality and the service. Being vegetarian, I usually stick to a couple of starters and the green vegetable curry as an entrée. The food is always flavored well and not your run of the mill fare. The Vietnamese street food theme does come out in the dishes and it's interesting eats. If you like spice and Ginger them you'll love the menu. If you don't...well... I will say there are some odd combinations that may not sit well with the less adventurous. The whole poached egg in the ginger fried rice is a little odd; to say it nicely. I think the decor is actually done quite well. It seems the people thinking that it "looks like a Pier 1 Imports" have never been to the region that is the inspiration for the interior at Spice Market. They actually did a clever job with itand it creates a nice warm ambience. Yes, the waiters aren't wearing suspenders adorned with buttons or have hats with the logo of the establishment at which they're working, but if that's what makes you feel comfortable at a restaurant then maybe you shouldn't go to Spice Market...or review on rateclubs for that matter.

This place serves the best burger I have ever had. It's a hip joint with a great menu and amazing quality food. No weaknesses. Go for the Delux Burger with sweet taters (and extra helpings of aioli).

I'm not too sure why I was shocked that we had a great time at Martuni's, but we definitely did. I think a large percent of it was due to the camp factor. My friend and I tried the chocolate martinis, liquid love in a triangular shaped cone. Generally when I have been here for a drink or two in the past, the place is packed but you get drinks fairly quickly. Friday night the place wasn't that packed and it took a great deal of time to get the drinks. Well, sometimes things are a little off, and I don't think it's usually like that. The front section, where the bar is, had a more straight vibe to it. Guys buying girls drinks and pushing you out of their way to do it. Girls talking about buying guys drinks and then actually doing it. I was about ready to leave (I had friends visiting from out of town and this is the kind of crap you can see anywhere, so why bother staying here..), but then we got our drinks and went to the other room. The rest of the crowd was much more mixed. Lesbian and straight, young and old. Several people went up to sing and fun was had by all apparently. We were able to sit by the piano and sang along. It turns out the girls from the bar were buying drinks for a gay couple who smiled, drank their drinks and left.
