by Elena V. on This is a great alternative for people who like steak but don't want to succumb to the boring, run-of-the-mill Midtown joints. Coat check was friendly and efficient as was the service. I've been here several times and always had great waitstaff; perhaps the people complaining about the service are somewhat obnoxious or otherwise annoying themselves... The interior is nice, especially the plant/floral arrangements in the middle. The place has a very hotel-y feel to it. There was music playing but not overly loud- I was easily able to have a normal conversation. For appetizers the Fois Gras French toast is very savory- and comes with apple and sherry. The Tomato/ Prosciutto dish is nice too since they are heirloom so you get that organic feel. The steaks are good but nothing amazing. I have trouble telling the difference between the cuts but last time had a filet and it was good. What stands out more are the sides... the parmesan truffle fries, mac and cheese, broccolini, and mixed mushrooms are all delicious. My favorite is the sweet corn pudding- DON'T miss out on this one! Cocktails are well made, I like the Strawberry Rhubarb Cobbler and Cherry Cosmo. My only complaint is the cocktails were too strong especially paired with dinner- the second one was like drinking vodka straight with a dash of cherry flavor. Then again, that may be a bonus for someone else... *Note: No reception with T-mobile. You have to step outside.
by Wen T. on Minus one star for the bouncer who told us there were three rooms, when only two were open last night. I'm sure he knew that when we were considering whether or not to pony up the $10 cover. Minus another star for the lack of female restrooms and how nasty and cramped they were. Minus a third star b/c the place was ridiculously hot -- no circulation whatsoever. My friends and I danced up front near the DJ because we found a vent where cold air was coming out and we took turns under there. Also found the thermostat and turned it down 7 degrees, although it didn't make a difference. I should've cranked it down to 55. Add one star for the tasty drinks. The grey goose pear flower was delicious, although I was a bit miffed that my friend's drink was obviously bigger than mine -- the bartender needs to work on her measuring. The Mango Mojito was also good. Ten dollars cover sucks. I don't like paying cover but it usually keeps out the riff-raff. Call me a superficial snob, but I thought the quality of men there sucked ass. We left around midnight b/c it got too crowded. I liked it from 10-1130pm.
by Norman Aldinger on no zero available, eh? what can i say about this place? i ended up there for a gen art after party. bouncer was fine, but the lady at the door rudely demanded a $20 cover (hilarious that someone would actually spend money for the privilege of spending money inside someone's business) , and wouldn't let me through. had to go grab the door guy, have him come in, and explain that i wasn't being charged, which was a pain in the ass. if there were anything but douchebags in the immediate area, i might have been embarrassed. yeah, there are tons of hot chicks. that's about the only upside of this club, which is like every other shitty club...maybe i just don't get it. crowded. expensive. shitty music playing too loud to carry on a decent conversation. i hope i never get dragged into a dump like this again.
