by John H. on I have to say, the Clermont Lounge did not live up to the hype. I went last night for the first time with some out-of-towners. Maybe we were early. I would go back, the drinks were good and reasonably priced. Just wasn't the freak-show I was expecting.
by Cathy K. on *This review is for the concert space* I saw Royal Crown Review - a jump swing band whom I associate from my early days of swing dancing. After all these years listening to them on CD, it was a real treat to see them live and at Yoshi's new space in San Francisco! For their show, Yoshi's cleared the main floor for dancing - yay! The floor was a dream. The space itself has great acoustics and is the right size for an intimate (but not cramped) concert experience. Tip - get on their mailing list, they occasionally have free tickets available. As for food, the appetizers were average. I tried the mixed sweet potato fries (sans garlic) that came with an odd flavored miso aioli sauce (btw, there is no ketchup on the premises) and the spicy tuna roll. Both were okay. For drink, I had a caipirinha ~ very tart (thought I was going to sprout hair on my chest)...not enough sweetness. All in all, this is a great place to see a show. Look forward to going back again sometime.

Its nice ot have a place where there is something to look at besides a TV (don't get me wrong--time and a place for a sports bar) and where theres a DJ playing instead of a janky jutebox. Add a great drink selection, some premium people watching, a taco cart outside, and a sweet space...= perfect bar
