Honestly...I don't club much (ie at all) so it doesn't take much to impress me. There were highs, there were lows...overall it was a pleasant evening. The decor is gorgeous. GORGEOUS. Very classy and sophisticated, with clean furniture in modern lines. The club is actually rather large, and the outdoor area with the fountain/pond things is a really nice touch. The butterly lights on the trees were adorable and the free burgers/hot dogs were a nice touch. I hear that they often have free food, which is almost necessary when you're drinking up a storm. The dancers (in house) are talented and adorable. I was totally impressed with their stamina ^_^ The guy on stilts was interesting...I wouldn't have gone there but everybody loves a little weird, right? The service was nowhere near as good as Area, but the price was better. The hostess was sweet and the mixers adequate. All in all, a fun evening.

This place is one of my fave music venues in the city - if not the world. - Its not too big, yet has this amazing grand decor. Everyone I see playing there compliments the surroundings (yes, its even impressive to those drug-addled floodlight-blinded singers on stage) - The bar staff are super efficient - the GAMH is definitely not one of those "six deep at the bar" music venues. And whats more, the beer - unusually for a music venue - is quite palatable. - Excellent value tickets. Things to watch out for: - Get your tickets mailed. The will call lines are reguarly round into the Mitchells Brothers auditorium (seriously) - Lines of sight poor from upstairs. Get there early.

Big dance clubs freak me out a bit. They're just too big. And there's too many people, and they're all way too dressed up, and they're all too drunk and spilling their $10 drinks on me, which are mostly sugary mixers anyway, so now I'm all sticky and annoyed and tired and the music's too loud and I feel out of place and OMG why is that ugly skeevy guy grabbing my ass and can we please go home now so I can resume fetal position in my pajamas and watch Arrested Development on DVD? (does this make me an old cranky lady? I hope not) But my two visits to the DNA Lounge have been pleasantly pleasant, seeing as it is of that club variety that I normally find sort of freaky. The sound quality is stellar, the people are friendly, the drinks are pretty good (though not exactly cheap for what you get, they're not too pricey, and they have a decent beer selection), and the atmosphere is sorta laid-back-warehouse-dance-club-vibe. I dig it. And they have Mexican food, which I haven't tried, but think is a damn cool addition regardless.
