by Jen M. on I love this place! I've been on both Friday and Saturday nights and they are equally amazing. Friday nights are more international with House music but its still fun to dance to. Saturday nights are Top 40 and DJ Costa is awesome!! He plays all new music and everyone dances until it closes. The place is beautiful, and its even better if you order a table beforehand. The bar staff is great, and it is always a good time.
by Shea D. on Margot G. + Shea D. + dual-long nights at work last Thursday + the next day off from work + Margot G. works right across the street = surefire equation for some after work drinks and an exciting game of Gin Rummy at the bar in Jake's Dilemma. And why not? There's a foosball table. A musty smelling back room that reminds me of Oscar Wilde's old English home (at least how I've imagined it in my head). A "private" party room downstairs...conveniently located right next to the restrooms. And there's even a beer pong table. So why not strike up a competitive game of Gin Rummy where Margot G. introduces new rules to the game at random? ;) It was the straightest bar I've ever walked into, but the bartender and server we became friends with were a-okay, so I won't hold it against them. We started with a pint of a new ale from Chicago that I've heard good things about, and the tap features a goose head. Again, why not? It seems to be the theme of the night. Fast-forward another pint later and we decided we wanted nachos. Add a third and final pint in there, and that's what I call an enjoyable evening. We bonded with the bartender over an obnoxious patron who literally had to be directed to where the tip line was on her receipt and where she needed to sign her name (and subsequently did not leave any tip at all). We chose to openly mock her. The bartender chose to give us a break on our bill. I like! We'll be back. And Margot G. kicked my ass at the Gin Rummy in case you were wondering...
by Delila Bigda on i went to the frying pan last week for a private party/charity auction. SUPER fun place!! the vibe is casual and they have a pretty extensive list of beers and wines. its like a playground for adults- tons of little caves to explore and the top deck of the barge is beautiful to hang out on during sunset. would be a really cool bar to rent out for bday parties on those super hot summer days!
