by Matt M. on After the assholes at Southside or whatever those retarded Martignetti's brothers have decided to call their venue now dismissed us at the door because we had TOO MANY GIRLS!!! A few of us left and walked over to GoldBar for sh#ts and giggles. From everything I have heard about this place I was expecting a slim to no chance of getting in. But we had an even ratio and were let in without so much as a hesitation! This place lives up to the hype, the decor is amazing!!! I felt like I was in a quasi-catacomb but lovingly one that blasted house music. Extremely attractive and even more so generous crowd, as a guy I am almost never offered drinks but not tonight, the vodka was flowing from left and right like wine.
by Sheila D. on I came here last night for dinner with girlfriends and I already want to make plans to come back. We dined upstairs since we had after-dinner plans and didn't have time to see the show downstairs. Interestingly, we practically had the entire upstairs area to ourselves. A bit strange initially, but we were too busy gabbing amongst each other to notice after a while. Next time I want to dine AND catch a show. We shared the deep fried mac & cheese (cause mac & cheese just isn't unhealthy enough on its own!) - it was a bit too rich for me, fried green tomatoes - just okay, and the yam fries - YUM!! my favorite. I ordered the baked Chilean Sea-Bass. You really can't go wrong with Sea-Bass cause it's just such a tasty fish. They baked the fish, but there was a thin crust around the fish that almost made it seem fried. The crust really helped to lock in the flavor... very delicious. It came with some sauteed veggies and a delicious cous-cous/black bean mix. Their portions are HUGE. I can EAT but couldn't finish all of my fish and cous-cous. Two of my girlfriends ordered the pulled pork dish, which came with biscuits and coleslaw. I was drooling... next time! Another friend ordered the blackened shrimp. She enjoyed her meal as well. We were too full for dessert, but the Bread Pudding looked yummy. A friend who'd been to B&B before had experienced slow service in the past. But last night, the service was stellar. Our server ( a super friendly blonde gal with an English accent) was super attentive, thorough and friendly. If you want to dine with a big group, I recommend making reservations upstairs because it feels very private.
by Lacresha Tecklenburg on Mental Note....if you name a restaurant after a dish you prepare....prepare it *#&@ing delicious. The prime rib was fatty and lacked flavor. The other dishes we ordered were mediocre. The only redeeming value was the interesting atmosphere. Has a cool old style "supper club" feel. Definitely dressy (guys bring your suit jacket) with a more conservative and older crowd. If you have a Tommy gun, you'll feel right at home here.
