I had only been in San Francisco for six months when one of my friends dragged me there against my will, next thing you know I met some of the funniest, sweetest people I have ever had the pleasure of grooving next to. I thought house didn't have a home any more till I discovered Ghetto Disco. Tunes I had forgotten but feet had not bounced out of the speakers and made me jiggle and wiggle and shake my money maker. There's no place else in the city where you can hear so much variety of genres, world class DJs, and rub elbows with unforgettable people..
by Heidi C. on Girls' Night last night and I must say, it was more fun than the first time I was here. We arrived at our destination at about 11:30PM and the line was building up. We didn't want to wait in the cold because we didn't have our coats, so we paid our way in since there wasn't any cover. WITH THE QUICKNESS we got in. The atmosphere upstairs was reeeeaaal chill and the crowd was a lot different than last time. There were more Asians than I expected, but there was still variety and many pickings for my single girls ;] There were a lot of people there! I think I may have found my next spot. I would give this place 3.5 stars, but... However, the dungeon-like dancefloor downstairs is a *THUMBS WAY DOWN*. Good music, but it's SMALL and there's NO VENTILATION since it's underground. Just put some shackles on my wrists and legs why don't you? AND PEOPLE WERE LAYING SOME HORRIBLE FARTS. What... THE HELL. It's super dark in there. I felt like a bat. Couldn't see anyone's faces. The only source of light was by the DJ, so that's where we were when we were downstairs. And their alcohol/cocktail selection is limited. I believe they don't make drinks that have more than 3 different liquors mixed in. Which means.... no LONG ISLANDS, AMF's, ETC. Kind of a downer. I know they're a champagne lounge and all and they don't wanna get people extremely drunk. Minus 1/2 a star for that. Back to the pros! TERRENCE the BARTENDER is quite the sweetheart. I asked for more alcohol in our Tom Collins because... well the other bartender didn't put ANY! It tasted like straight up lemonade. I see myself coming back here. You never know what kind of people you'll meet, especially in such a diverse venue such as BUBBLE LOUNGE.
by King Quillman on I have to give this place 5 stars because of all the techno nites and d&b, house, etc... I've DJ'ed there a few times. The drink selection is good, it's always cheap or low cover charge. The sound system is banging, I think the best of any bar in cambridge. Plus the dude who does the sound like hangs out there on a regular basis and make sure it always sounds good. I don't know if I'd necessarily hit up the Phoenix for dinner, nor during a soccer game, or on the 80s or top 40 nights, but if there is electronic music I am there. I heard a rumor they were going to open a second level upstairs or downstairs, but I've never seen it....
