I actually would really like this place if it was not sooo overpriced. It has a nice atmosphere, pretty tasty food, and nice champagne. The downstairs dance floor is TINY but sort of cool. It s hip after work spot but not my favorite swanky bar.... I suppose the fact that there is no cover makes up for the fact that the drink and food selections are way overpriced, even for the financial district.

Pre-stomach ache.... The ambience was real cool but the food is subpar. We had such high hopes. We had to send the cold chicken roti back. There was very little spice on the jerk wings. Buffalo Wild Wings is more authentic. Right! The peas and rice dish was undercooked. Who likes crunchy rice and tough peas? The service was very unattentive. They also hit us with the built-in 18% gratuity for only 2 persons. I didn't protest like I normally would but just figured that I'd skip the food and enjoy a drink from the bar the next time. Rating: 2 stars. Post stomach ache and everything (yes, everything) that comes with that... I felt like I was about to die from 1 am to 3 am this morning. I wouldn't wish this feeling on my worst enemy. Needless to say, I won't be stopping back here again even with a stomach pump, IV, Pepto, etc. Final rating: Can I give a negative 5 stars for this experience?

I cannot believe I have not written a review on Halo yet. I have been there many times and each time have had a great deal of fun. The first time I went here was for the Lucid Absinthe party. I like absinthe, even though Lucid is not the real stuff, I still enjoyed Halo's Absinthe concoctions. The traditional Absinthe drink with the sugar was good as well as the monkey gland. I forget what the third one was called but I liked all of them. Some people I was with did not like the Absinthe, but it made for more drinks for me. I have been there a few times when it was pretty dead, but it is usually decent. It allows smoking unfortunately but at least I do not have to go anywhere after here except home. Bartenders are great and they have a lot of cool mixed drinks. I like the upstairs area. They have a DJ, dancing, and places to sit. The stair case leading nowhere is weird, but interesting. I liked coming for the burlesque party as well when they had girls dancing on ropes hanging down from the ceiling. This place is definitely good for quirky theme parties. Low lighting, great atmosphere, and great drinks make this a great place to go after Cypress or anywhere else really.
