I had high hopes for Halo since its only a stone's throw from my place. After dinner and a show at the Fox, my BFF and I wanted to get our dance on. This place is really easy to miss...looks like nothing on the outside. The decor is very trendy, but hovers on the "trying too hard" side. The worst thing about this place was the music. The DJ should have his DJ license revoked indefinitely. The dance floor is incredibly small...this is more of a place to sit, drink, and look for a sugar daddy and not so much meant for bootyshaking. After unsuccessfully waiting a good 30 minutes for a decent beat, we finally gave up and headed to the bar. My friend is single and wanted to find a cute boy to flirt with. Unfortunately, the selection was meager, at best. The guys there were either barely legal or pushing 50. After chatting with a couple of douches in skinny jeans sporting wanna-be emo haircuts, we finally paid our tab. Another shocker...$90. Wow, how the hell did that happen? We both had 2 rounds of beer and a few shots. Definitely not worth it. The only redeeming quality about this place was the bartender, he was very cool.

I know they CALL it a mansion, but where did they put all the space? The elitist main area had the belly cut out of it for VIP, the rest of us plebs had to dance around the awkward space. That is, after we got past the lines and $20 door fee. My sister and I had 'Passes' from out hotel that turned out to be just free drink tickets that were invalid after 10pm! However...after that disappointment, we were determined to have fun, and hopped up on the VIP/Riffraff divider to dance. The music was great and we were up there for a solid 2 hours, dancing non-stop. I thought that Mansion was 'the place to go' club-wise, but I was wrong. It was very overrated, and not worth the money.

Great club, lots of room so you can usually find a part that isn't too crowded. Great hip-hop music on Friday nights. Cover charge, but that's normal for Boston. It depends on the night though- the music differs, so check before you go.
