We went for my friend's birthday. I kind of figured that the rateclubs reviews on this place was going to be our exact situation. But, you can't knock a place until you try it. You wait in line for a good while. We actually didn't wait as long but you most definitely wait. Which I suppose is expected. My friend who had talked to a promoter had brought us to the front of the line. The two promoters talked amongst themselves and apparently said, "to watch out for this group, they are questionable!" I am guessing because we were from the hood or something. We were all denied and they stamped a HUGE FAIL on our foreheads. No that isn't true. So, we left. So, I'll say this...pray to god if this is your kind of club scene and your life depends on it : that you were gifted with a huge ass and big boobs, are omg so popular, you know those "cool" guys in the snazzy suits, or you have a huge ass and big boobs. Otherwise you aren't getting in. Have a nice day: )

There was a guy on the street handing out flyers for Popstarz @ The Factory tonight... free admission. We weren't really feelin' it, but when we saw the line at The Abbey and didn't feel like waiting, we thought we'd pop in. Sidebar; other clubs had shirtless gogo-looking boys handing out advertisements... the guy handing out the Popstarz cards didn't look like the demographic they were going for, a bit of a mismatch. He just didn't seem like the nightclub type; middle-aged, conservatively dressed, mild-mannered. But I digress... There was no line. That's because there were practically no customers. There were maybe 10 people in the dancefloor area room, and another 20 in the main bar. It was 11pm. On a Friday. That's no good. The drinks were cheap and strong, the venue nice enough... the music good... but no crowd. We left. I heard that same guy on the street the next day handing out cards for free admission AND a free shot. Sounded desperate. We didn't return.

According to LAX... I'm only an "IP"... and haven't quite made it to the "V-IP" status yet... because I waited in line for just over an hour... in the freeeeezing cold... while all the Hollyweirdos were walking in, in their funky-ass pants, funky-ass shoes, funky-ass glasses, funky-ass jackets... and this time, 'funky' was no longer cool. I knew there was a reason I hadn't come to this place since it was still called Las Palmas... Thankfully, there is no cover on Sundays... even though the door guys repeatedly told everyone in line that if we didn't rsvp for the special night, we were pretty much assed-out... I dunno if we ever made it on the list... but being part of a girl-duo, we didn't really have a problem getting in... it was just battling the cold and the hour long wait that I had an issue with. Apparently, there were some reknown dj's there (of course, I've never heard of them... ) like... Headbangers and etc... Side bar: Angelina sighting outside.... think "little pink corvette". Her visit to the apt complex across the street was quite questionable... while her bodyguard or manager waited outside. Once inside, we made a bee-line to the bar, where the drinks were $10 each (somehow, if that wasn't already enough, I was kinda expecting it to be more!)... then to the dancefloor... then back to the bar... then lingered around the edges, eyeing one of the hotty- mchotterson bouncers. Yummy! The music was good house beats... the crowd was... um... interesting... (insert 'clusterfuck' here)... Ultimately, I had a good time. Note to self: Before coming back... re-connect with long lost promoter friends... or avoid returning at all. I'm leaning towards the latter.
