Cafe du Nord-- SF classic institution. I've only been here once, for a concert by a little known indie gal and her fellow band members (a fine frenzy). We were literally 10 feet from the singer. I read on Rateclub that the venue is teeny tiny, and it really is. It was an intimate, amazing experience. Like a secret club. Minus one star is that it was standing only. Your legs might get kind of stiff/sore, but it's worth it. Oh, watch out for people who try to move forward during the show, thereby blocking your view.

i agree with the supposedly skinny melissa down below. The parking is crazy. I suppose they built the weird winding roads to suit the restaurant or something. It's SO FREAKING LOUD. and it's not just the college students that make the loud noise. it's usually a mixture of drunk people and loud girls with shrilly voices that pierce your eardrum and make you slightly tear up in the eyes from fright. Aside from loud atmosphere, the food is only ok. Well the stuffed avacado is actually pretty good. That dish is probably the only thing that i enjoy lots here at Trudy's. The chicken is layered under an avacado and then i think it's battered and fried but i can never quite tell because of the sauce on it. The "mexican" rice it comes with is dry. flavorless. The beef fajitas are rather tender but sooooo flavorless! what's up with this place and flavorless stuff? at least the salsa is spicy. To give a quick overview: -Good place to meet up to be loud and have a drunk -food is a bit expensive and only ok -drinks are nice and powerful if you want to get drunk
