It's nice, but not the right vibe for me. Even from the VIP section I just couldn't get into it. I can see why people like it though...it looks great on paper. It's huge, 3 floors, 2 rooms (house and hip-hop) and it's just a pretty place. I went on a Friday but I heard the best night is Saturday. It was full, but not to the point where people's sweat lands on you. The crowd was a mix of "eh". Not bad, but I certainly wouldn't go back for it. The DJ wasn't playing my hits on this one.

When I first learned about Bowlmor, it was in the late 90's and the Monday night all you can bowl was $15. On a few Monday nights I went with a few friends, bowled until closing time and woke up the following afternoon with a limp forearm. I returned to Bowlmor on a Thursday night (last month) around 7 PM. The bouncer didn't bother asking me for ID and let me in; I guess I look old. The old school elevator with the operator inside took me to the main floor. I met my friends and noticed the desolate bar. Wow, people have better things to do on a Thursday night? We had a round of drinks and some sliders before the pager went off. We got a lane and I looked through the house balls. I hate bowling without my own hardware, but I found a crummy urethane house ball to use. I also dislike the glow in the dark cosmic bowling and dry lanes, but I reminded myself I'm bowling "for fun." Although the waitress service was efficient and I bowled poorly, I didn't have a glamorous time because of the heat. I was dripping with sweat. Remember that I was not running laps or engaging in strenuous activity; I was leisurely bowling! The final bill was high, but when you realize the other 3 options to bowl in Manhattan (Chelsea Piers, Leisure Time and Harlem), you don't have a choice. I leave you with a moment of Zen: welcome to splitsville. . - . . - . \ / ############################ \ / | _ | ############################ | _ | | = | ########################### # | = | / \ ########################### / \ / \ ########################## / \ | | ######################### | | | | ######################### | | \ / \ / ' = ' ..... ? .....
