i came here for a friend's 36th birthday this past weekend (as did a bunch of others who just wrote a review for this joint, i see...maybe it was the same party). anyway, it was dark, dingy, and packed with asian kids. totally reminded me of k-2 at the soundfactory back in the day (like late 90's). you walk upstairs, you see a room with a bar on the right. next to that room is a room with several pool tables. next to that is a 10x10 outdoor smoking patio w/ high walls - it's like smoking while cramped with 50 strangers in someone's chimney. i accompanied a drunk friend out there; i didn't smoke. i still got burned. then on the other side of everything is a small private party area, then double doors, and behind those double doors, a huge dance floor. on the night that i went (sat night), the dance floor didn't open til 10:30, but when they did, they played more trance than hip-hop, at least for the first hour or so. then top 40's after that. no cover for our party, drinks were cheap, our server was fast, and we had the platform area above the dance floor which gave us some privacy and a view of the dance floor / kids jumping around. was fun bc it reminded me of old college days. i think i even ordered an adios. o - and their shots are more like double-shots. how to know when you're too old to go out: when you try to dedicate ditty by paperboy to the birthday boys and the deejay tells you he's never heard of the song. psh. kids these days.

Save Earth, drink more. eco-friendly bar. So they recycled materials from the previous bar in building this brand spanking new bar, energy efficient sound and lighting, organic uniforms.. small, well decorated lounge, smoking patio, dj plays a variety of club music (hip hop, pop, house), $9 jack and diets, good looking staff, air blade hand dryers in restrooms, bottle service available, free valet for hybrids.

The Park is a bit of a waste of a great space. The huge interior, designed by those who did Swingers in Los Angeles, is funky and retro and very hip looking. There is a large bar with a fireplace lounge area, there is a large indoor dining room and a gorgeous outdoor seating area with tons of cool foliage and nooks and crannies to dine in. There is also an upstairs bar including a full hot tub! It is a shame that this place has an uninspired and overpriced menu and a fly-by-their-pants waitstaff who is unprofessional and unknowledgeable at best. The patrons of this restaurant are often of an older generation, which is quite the contrast of the setting that desperately vies to be young and fresh. If The Park could step up it's game a bit more, it could definitely be the toast of Chelsea. Fingers crossed!
