First I want to start off by saying I'm very very new to the beef eating game and this was the first Philly cheese steak I've ever had so I have nothing to compare it to. My friends and I came here after partying at some lounge, and my first impression was when did I leave Philly and come to Vegas? This place was lit up like it should be on the Vegas Strip! Once we got on line it was only a 10 maybe 15 minute wait, definitely not the worst I've experienced. So while we were waiting my friend instructed me on the proper way to order because apparently if you order incorrectly you get sent to the the back of the line (that would suck). Lucky for me I ordered properly and got a whiz wit which is a steak with cheese whiz and onions. My friends cousin suggested I put some ketchup on it as well so I did and we all sat down. I took my first bite and down to the last I thought it was really good, it definitely hit the spot! My experience was different from a lot of the reviews, first being I didn't know about all the hype, I was just brought here. Secondly my bread was just fine and my meat was not dry. However I can definitely see where the place can loose its stars. I personally was very content with the food I had just eaten but I wasn't wowed by it so I can understand how someone who has bought into the hype can easily be disappointed. The wait in line wouldn't have bothered me even if it were longer only because if your out at 3 in the morning wanting to eat a cheese steak or anything else for that matter, you really have nothing better to do. However I do have to agree with it being a bit expensive for drunken food and I'm from NY. The cheese steak was $8.50 and $3.50 for fries ($4 if you want cheese) which tasted more like tater tots than fries. Overall I think the place was just fine but I am interested in some of the other places that some of these reviews say are better, the next time I'm in Philly.

Last night I went to Coda with 3 friends and overall I had a good time. We arrived at about 8:15 pm on a Saturday night, with no reservations, and were seated immediately. That is already one star in my book right there. So anyway we ordered a number of different things but the dishes that stood out in my mind were the brussel sprout salad (so delish, I love it when they don't overcook the brussel sprouts) and the coffee crusted pork loin was pretty good too (especially considering I'm not particularly crazy about pork). The food kind of took a long time to arrive which was kind of a drag and our waitress tended to be a little MIA but it didn't seem to bother me too much. Jazz Mafia came on around 11 pm (followed by a group at 10 pm which I liked much more) and it was kind of disappointing because 1) is that really considered "jazz" and 2) the freestylers were so weak. But maybe that's just me. Anyway, it was kind of a pricey night (I ended up spending $60, and had one drink) but all in all it was a pretty good time and I'd probably go back...as long as there is a different group performing that is.

like bissap baobab, the food is spectacular (especially the plantains and coconut shrimp thingy). The Salsa music is DJ - good music. Great dancers to watch. friendly atmosphere.
