by Trisha S. on I don't really venture to Meatpacking for a night out but Griffin never fails me for a good time. The crowd is awesome and the staff are great. The music is never bad. I would recommend a Thursday or a Friday night over a Saturday night.
by calvin c. on Read some good reviews and came highly recommended...... But went on a Thursday... Maybe Thursdays are bad days but I think there were 15 guys to every girl that was there. The bouncer said Fridays and Saturdays are more strict but even so the club is basically a small box with a hallway to get to the bathroom and outdoor smoking area. The dancing area is almost big enough to fit 30 people whose favorite move is the 2 step. O, and that night the credit card machine broke down so cash only. Wonderful. Left after about an hour and a half and had a better time watching tv in the hotel. Thank goodness LIFE on the discovery channel was on that night because thats a pretty darn good show.

Somehow balances the industrial-style architecture with a certain insider intimacy (great lighting, old-school New York steak house banquettes - a la Odeon or Bowery Bar). My biggest complaint was a request for medium rare that resulted in near-charred (I mean, you're a steakhouse!!), but other than that it was wonderful for the atmosphere, service and company. I hope to return and up the rating.
