by Quang T. on Went here with the Groupon deal with the expectation for a real dinner. This just isn't the place where to go and expect to get a real appetizer, entree, and desert. I would say it's good place to pre-drink with appetizers but dont expect to get full. Not a good place for a sit down menu. But good for pre-drinking with a Vegas like scenery with loud music. The Groupon prefix menu included devil eggs, grilled cheese sandwich, cesear salad, mini burgers, desert and a bottle of champagne. Groupon totally screwed this up advertising it as a pre fix whatever course dinner. The sweetheart and I were expecting a real dinner only to be served a kids menu (grilled cheese sandwich?) The portions are TINY. Our waiter was kind enough to replace the devil eggs with Sea Bass since they were out of devil eggs. Again the Sea Bass was so small it could have been talapia and I would not have noticed. Our waiter comped us the fresh oysters since they were really short handed that night our food took forever. One star for the super awesome waiter who hooked us. Otherwise two stars at best.
by Desiree K. on This is a great summer drinking spot! It has an amazing view of the Hudson and it's good for big groups. A little pricey but the food and drinks are good so it's well worth it.
by Candy Penta on Avalon, a 3-level building, is my favorite club in L.A. PROS: (1)You get in pretty quick because this club is so big that they don't need place-setters in the line to make it seem like there are a lot of people like other clubs do. (2)The drinks are fairly cheap for a "hollywood club". (3) Music's great! Usually Avalon is known for their electro-line up. But they also play other genres depending on the day. Safest bet is to call in and ask what event/dj they are having that night. (4) Crowd is amongst the more attractive ones in Hollywood. (5) Plenty of room to dance. CONS: (1)bathroom lines are out of control. I think they have just two sets of restrooms... but then again, all venues have messed up restroom situations. (2) Unless you get lucky with street parking, valet is $20 usually. But again... I think this is the hollywood trend right? $20 min for parking? Mind you on some nights they have afterhours on one of their levels which become a different club called "Spider". This is opened from 2AM-7AM. Although they play good house, there are a lot of crackies there if you know what I mean.
