by Salome Cutter on NYC is known for it's food, shopping, the experience really. But I presume you would want the topnotch of the Empire State. When you have a craving for delicious asian/asian inspired food, look no further than Tao. I honestly could have walked by it and not have given it the time of day, but as you enter your thoughts are quickly changed. The waiting room was really packed, some people waited quite a bit of time. It was seriously worth it, though. Appetizers were amazing, I would recommend the Salmon Tar tare and the Velvety Corn Soup. Just pulling a pun here, it was "souper". Sorry. For the entree, I got a recommendation from the waiter (very outgoing) he told me to try the Chilean Sea Bass. Perfectly seasoned and cooked. It was really a winner at my table. For desert, I think you should go with the mochi sampler. Just think, DELICIOUS ice cream wrapped in a DELICIOUS rice flour dough. It really gets no better. The decor and the entire vibe screams New York. Also, don't forget to say hello to the giant Buddha sculpture. Happy eating!
by Hailey Bolig on Aside from the guy at the door, this place is awesome. a friend of mine was throwing an event at Kress a few weeks ago, and everyone was having a great time. The drinks were good, a little pricey but it was a Saturday night and the club was packed. The music was good, typical Hollywood scene and crowd. we had an entire booth on the 3rd floor to ourselves. the upstairs outdoor area is the best on a cool night. Like I said our night would have been great except for the bouncer. I dont know what it is about the bouncers in Hollywood, but they all have a superiority complex. upon passing through the red carpet to get our pictures taken. we proceeded to get our ID's check and patted down, my friend said in a joking manner that now its time to get "frisked" and the bouncers got enraged and started to threaten him with knocking him on the floor and beating him up. we would have complained but we figured it would be a waste of time.
by Courtney H. on Went to happy hour here with a friend because Mijares doesn't have happy hour on Fridays. (boo) She had trouble finding parking, so she dropped me off first to get a table, but I ended up having to wait and we didn't get a table until around 6:30. (happy hour ends at 7pm) We would've preferred to sit outside where it was much quieter, brighter, and pleasant, but we made do by basically yelling to maintain our conversation even though we sat next to each other. The free food was very good, especially the chips and salsa, but it might've been because I was hungry. Not sure if the margaritas were supposed to be half off, but each margarita ended up being about $7, which is pricey. Service was decent. At some point (probably after 6:50pm), this blindingly bright light would shine every few minutes. At first, we thought it was a camera flash, but it may have been some strange signal that happy hour was about to end. I probably won't be back.
