by jennifer t. on oh marbella. what can i say? the venue is great (maybe a little small, but very do-able), but the promo company is a deceptive hot mess. all i can say is that i felt so deceived that i can't even retell the story, it angers me that much. all i can say is i won't be coming back. that is, unless i find out somehow that the promo company has been switched out.
by Joeann Guillote on Not a lot of love for this place, huh? Well, I didn't find the food to be so bad. I think it was actually above average and not too pricey. Going back to the beginning, I went to Prana this past Saturday with a group of four of my friends. We shared a handful of the small/ medium plates and split three entrees between all of us. My favorites were the beef karpacio and the scallops. They don't necessarily do family style here, but we improvised. As I alluded to earlier, the food was pretty good. The service was marginal at best though. Mainly, she (the server) was inattentive and easily distracted by everything else going on in the restaurant. In summary: Good food. Marginal service. Nice decor and ambiance. If you haven't been, then I would recommend it. But there are so many other great places in SF -- I don't think that I'd hit this place up again.
by Takaki K. on The food definitely lived up to the reputation. Sushi was one of the very best I've had in this country. $80 omakase was creative and delicious. And the cold sake we had was amazingly good. 5 stars. The only thing we didn't like about our time there was our waiter. He was arrogant and almost condescending, maybe because we ordered the least expensive course? He even shook his head when he tried to take a plate away and we asked him to leave it. Speaking of which, all the staff are very keen on taking plates away. We probably asked 5 times to leave the dishes we were still working on. The decor is a little too hip/clubby to my taste. With food this good, a simple, chic decor should suffice.
