by Leslie D. on Ugh where to begin... Apparently this place used to be fun and normal back in the 90s (according to my sources)... Now, Bowlmor is just a very pretentious bowling alley trying to pretend it's a club with a bouncer outside the door.... complete with deafening music inside with the lights almost completely off and people packed in like anchovies. Yeah that's smart, make it as dark as possible while tightly packed drunk people are swinging heavy balls around! I could not see a damn thing when I walked in for at least 5 minutes (Hallelujah the bar was lit up though... how *convenient*) and then we were finally told 10 minutes later after waiting in line that the wait would be an hour or more for an alley. Ummm I think not. I'd rather make the difficult journey over to Chelsea Piers! Honestly though, turn the lights on in there a little bit people!!!
by Alan S. on Comparing 'The Circle' to 'Le Cercle' this place cannot compete. The Circle is not really well decorated and theres no ambiance to it. The club itself is like 4 corners and a roof. If I could do my night at The Circle all over again, I would probably come really early. Almost like 'Le Cercle' early say 9:30pm so I won't be forced to get bottle service at the bar lol. God it sucks having one eye on the Grey Goose and the other eye scanning the dance floor. Oh yeah in terms of girls to guy ratio? I have no clue how it happened but I think the guys totally out weighed the girls which doesn't make sense especially when they have a strict anti male door policy. Overall The Circle was fun. If you're an out of towner Korean then hit this place up but be prepared for bottle service or get there early.
by Wm Grahams on Cafe by day, lounge by night - sounds like my kind of place! I learned about Sugar Cafe when my sister was visiting last year and frequently went here to get work done. She mentioned it turns into a lounge at night, so when friends were in town this weekend and were seeking a new venue, we decided to go here. I'm definitely a fan. Nice decor, drinks at reasonable prices, no cover and a decent and mixed crowd. The lounge reminds me of lounges in NY, but without the pretentiousness. It got crowded at times, but we somehow got prime seating near the fireplace right when we got there. They have a couple private rooms which would make it ideal for small private parties. I haven't been here for the coffee or food, but I'm likely to be back soon. The dessert looks pretty amazing. Can't wait.
