by John W. on On a Saturday morning, after a late Friday night, Silk City is a good place to go for hangover brunch. If you like pretty things, you'll like Silk City. The Bier Garden is really sexy in the summer and the diner section is retro nostalgic of a time when people actually thought the future would be cool and we'd be flying around in spacecrafts. The drinks are pretty good and the food is decent. My favorite thing for brunch in the whole world is Huevos Rancheros, and, if you feel the same way,this is probably not the place for you. Sure, it's kind of tasty but it is basically nachos with a flare of Huevos. So, because of this huevos fail, I give Silk City 3, not 4 stars. Also, I hate Silk City on Friday and Saturday nights. Of course, that's only because I'm not "bro" enough for it.

by Marilu Egelston on Maybe I'm some crazy movie junky-retard high as a kite on some dirty rock I picked up down here in the Loin, but if you're going to call your bar "Vertigo" in SF, you'd better do a little more on the interior re MAKING PEOPLE THINK OF THE MOVIE than a movie poster and a half-assed picture of a church. Although, maybe I was too drunk off of their delightfully strong whiskey-soda to notice more on the theme. Why else would I probably not like to return to this bar? There's a television screen that randomly shows pictures from "wild nights past." The people in these pictures are hideous -- perhaps they're supposed to serve as a warning: "it's dark in here, those girls you're dancing with all have faces like troll dolls..." All-in-all it's a big fat meh, not that you'll do much better off across the street at the Hemlock. Also: CASH ONLY -- & THEY'VE GOT AN ATM INSIDE. BOO I HATE PLACES THAT ARE SHADY LIKE THAT.
