One of my all time favorite clubs in SF. You want hip hop music? Done. You want tecno/trance? Done. They have 2 dance floors. A dark and dirty basement, or a posh and swanky upstairs one. take your pick. there's tons on places to sit, which is key when you dance for hours on end. drinks are affordable and bars are everywhere. ambiance is very nice. location is sketchy but the parking next door helps. Yes, there's cover (unless your on the guestlist), but it's worth the 20. you definitely get what you pay for. Highly recommended.

This place is huge! Three dance floors, more bars, an outdoor patio, and a little taqueria, crazy! It did seem a little "Oktoberfestish" i.e. alot of "sausage" and beer; there were women but not as many as a single man likes to see. Although they had three dance floors, each with it's own DJ, all the music pretty much sounded the same. They did the fake line thing I hate, the line was easily +150 deep and once inside you realized there were more people waiting to get in than already in. The drinks were stupid expensive, $15 for a red bull/vodka and a coke for my designated driver. The one redeeming factor were the ladies they had dancing on stage, OMFG! They were banging, unavailable to the mere mortal, but still banging. On my next weekend trip to LA I will skip Circus Disco and try to find a smaller venue, but for a one time experience it was ok.

I noticed a review of this place on the main page, and I had a post-traumatic stress syndrome flashback... gah. If Jean Paul Sartre wrote a sequel to "No Exit," this would be the setting. More specifically, it would be my company Christmas party, at which a smattering of attorneys would be playing instruments, singing Christmas carols, drinking $10 beers, and trying to get a bitchy gay waiter to hurry up with the Stoli and tonics, already. I waited at the bar for 30 MINUTES to get a drink the one other time I was there (also work-related). I am not a calm and patient person either. I hopped, I waved my arms, I considered taking off my shirt to get a drink... nothing. I have never had that much trouble getting booze in my life. If the Catholic priests were right, and I do go to hell, it's going to be an eternal MUNI ride on the 49, to and fro Jillian's. For the love of god [sic], save yourselves!
