This is a TERRIBLE (shouldn't be but is) venue! First, in fairness to the artist playing tonight, Bettye Lavette, she was fantastic.  The venue and it's management on the other hand left MUCH to be desired. 1.  The wait staff was deplorable, apathetic and lazy.  The waitron for our area told the table next to us they "should go to the bar themselves for drinks ... it'll be faster as I'm slammed and won't get back often".  Nice way to start when you're working for tips.  This is a venue managers worst nightmare for a salesperson.  Given venue's like this one make most of their money on the drinks this was wholly unacceptable.  Twice we attempted to give her an order and she walked off saying "oh, you're ok then".  Not listening is a pet peeve of mine.  We were attempting to order food, however after seeing what hit the table next to us I think my stomach was better off. 2.  The venue allowed late arrived and those with crappy seats to crowd the stage during the change of acts.  This should NEVER be allowed.  What a slap in the face to those who arrive early, spend extra money on drinks and food and then get screwed by all the ill mannered who crowd in front, stand and block the view and otherwise maul those who are already seated as though it were just expected. 3.  At what time did it become acceptable for 40+ aged person to behave with such poor manners?  The majority of those crowding in, stepping on everyone else and being generally rude were all WAY old enough to know better.  I may be a stick in the mud, but my momma raised me better than that. 4.  I will not attend another general admission venue, ever.  It's just not worth it.  Why should one spend extra money on a dinner ticket, arrive early to get a good seat, buying more drinks, spending more money  only to be muscled out by a bunch of cheap rude jerks who think they're attending another long ago forgotten 1970's Sunday 3 band rock show, where it's expected to rush the stage in their drugged and drunken stupors?  Am I the only one in my age group that managed to grow up and acquire some class and manners? 5.  I didn't "stand" for this show as i am of the age of many of the other rude patrons and had a bad foot.  My mistake.  Should have stood to keep the rude assholes who crowded in front of us off my bum foot which got stepped on several times by the rude, drunk, dancing persons with no manners.  All of them old enough to know better.  I found it particularly offensive after the third stomping offense from the same person that he didn't even apologize or excuse himself.  This persons boyfriend then had the temerity to complain to the management because I was offended at being stomped on.  Needless to say we did not remain for the entire show.  It just wasn't worth the grief. Perhaps the end of this review should be that I'm an old fuddy-duddy evidently no longer interested in elbowing my way to see a performer I have paid good money to see.  Sadly,  I guess there are quite a large number of folks in our town who think it's cute to just elbow their way in front of folks without regard for manners, or personal consideration for their fellow concert goers whatsoever as long as it gets them what "they" want.  Gross, blatant selfishness of the first degree and it makes me embarrassed for my city.  San Franciscans SHOULD be far more sophisticated than the rude juvenile behavior displayed at this show. If that makes me a fuddy-duddy I'll take the title as long as it counts me among the polite in society who don't presume to trod on others just because they've had a couple of drinks. This is NOT a good venue.  The room is pretty, but it is clearly poorly managed from both a business and people perspective.  I would not recommend attending any events here.   They aren't interested in service at all and could care less whether the environment lends to a good show enjoyable by all.  I certainly won't be back.

I've reunited with my old friend bOb's this past weekend and it brought back memories of Summer 2004 Thursdays - good hip hop, elbow to elbow dancing, and red stripe beers. You gotta love a place that plays Britney with the classics.

The first time I went to East Andrews, it was my birthday. I already had enough to drink so I had a fine time. It wasn't that crowded and we met some fun people. We also made friends with one of the bartenders and he treated us pretty well for the night. We spent most of our time outside. But, every time I've gone since, it's been jampacked and claustrophobic. I did not enjoy at all! Luckily we were able to find some "open" space to drink & talk, but still couldn't stop the feeling that we were constantly in the way or being walked over. Drink prices are average, and you should definitely dress up.
