I ordered a $7 hot dog that was cold. I tried to get my money back but they said i'd touched it so I had to pay for it - how else would i find out its cold. i asked 3+ people to help me and they said "You gotta talk to the manager" but he was no where to be found. After waiting for 15 minutes I gave them back my food and left. A true club that will milk ya for every last $$. I won't ever go back short of an a must see act.

What'll ya have?! What'll ya have?! The Varsity is an institution. If you haven't been, you must give it a shot at some point whether you live here or are just passing through. A must for every UGA football game in Athens, but more of a treat during the "off season" here in Atlanta. There is a lot of lingo that goes along with eating at the V - but you don't need to know it all to get one heck of a burger or dog! You just need to keep in mind that ordering a hot dog, means it automatically comes with chili and mustard. If you want it plain, order it Naked (in the South we say NECK-ed). Burgers are called Steaks and if you order a steak, it is coming with ketchup, mustard and pickle (again, remember the word Naked). My favorite is the Chili-Cheese Dog with an order of fries (Strings) and a large Frosted Orange (FO) - for those of you who don't know, it's like a creamsicle in a cup with a straw. I make sure to order my dogs Sideways (onions on the side), so I can control how many I sprinkle on the top. If you have the room after all of that, give a Fried Pie a shot (Apple or Peach) - these are what McDonald's is trying to accomplish, but just can't. They do offer lighter fare - you can get lite mayonnaise, a salad or even Chicken Salad on bread. Even their fried food is done so in Canola oil with no Trans Fats- but c'mon folks, we go there for the grease! It's okay to admit we have a problem. I have been eating this food since I was just a little kid and so it made sense for me to get my niece eating there at age 3 - and she LOVES it! But she always wants her N.I.P.C - Plain Chocolate milk with no ice. Three years later, she comes to town and asks me when we are going to the Big V Restaurant. If you want a true Atlanta experience, you have to go inside and listen to the order takers harking "What'll ya have?! What'll ya have?!" But when you step up to the counter, you better know what it is you want.

Their "City Sessions" monthly music showcase is not to be missed, the vegetarian platter is something to be shared, and the Harar beer is liquid love - honey sweet and intoxicating!
