We've been to the STK in Los Angeles and loved it .. for food, service & music. Therefore, went to the NYC location on 9/12/09 with a group of 10 for my husband's 40th birthday.. the hostesses were great and the ambience is what you would expect (cool, clubby) .. but our server lacked personality and was not fit to be a server at a cool steakhouse ..the food was good, not great (my steak was very fatty) and furthermore, the DJ was horrible. One of the reasons we chose STK was for the fun vibe, club atmosphere we would have afterwards .. the DJ played nothing but overdone 80's music. I got so desperate that I even asked him if he could play some more current music that people would expect to hear in a NYC nightclub/lounge/restaurant and he nodded but ignored my (repeated) requests. We ended up leaving much earlier than we would have because we couldn't take the cheezy tunes. For all these reasons, I would not go back here.

My boyfriend and I walked into a large cave-like room. The atmosphere was subdued with dimmed lighting, and had it not been for the hostess that was too busy chatting with her co-worker than tending to us, I would say we were off to a great start. Luckily our waitress made up for the hostess and was great! Biscuits & Blues serves up a a traditional southern menu. We started out with their appetizer sampler platter ($17) that had everything fried except for the Cajun spiced and yummy chicken wings. The additional shrimp fritters, yam fries, and deep fried pickles composed a generous platter. My boyfriend was torn between the sausage meatloaf with mashers and the short ribs with collard greens, and I had the grilled salmon with Parmesan risotto. All entrees came with steamed veggies too (and thank you for the healthy sidekick!). Had I know the Parmesan risotto would be such a brick heavy and bland serving, I would have asked for all veggies. Also, I could recommend spicing up the salmon and serve it blackened, in style with the Cajun theme. Overall the food needed the live music and the ambiance to make it worthwhile ($20-something entrees). While the southern menu already primed us to feel at home, the taste did not live up to our expectations for comfort food. The cocktails were good, but I like to top off my meal with an espresso, which Biscuits & Blues could not deliver. I assume they are used to more of a cocktails & blues crowd. Nevertheless, thank you Lavay & The Red Hot Skillet Lickers for a fun-filled time.

Went there for dinner last night, and the food was great. We had the free form ravioli and a duck special. Both were great as well as the staff, very nice and prompt. They have a duck pizza that I hear is great, and the best part they serve food til 2am most nights. The full menu, so if you are every hungry late at night you have other options then dives.
