All the rateclubs regulars know about this place, so I'm just going to add my personal experience. The Clermont is an old and seedy club and when you hear people say that the Clermont "is where strippers go to die," they aren't kidding. My friends and I snuggled up against one of the walls next to the bar (the place was packed). No more than 10 minutes passed before the famous Blondie made her way to us, carrying beer cans and all. Blondie went up to me and all she said in her raspy voice was, "OH WE LOVE ASIAN PEOPLE HERE!" She then asked if I wanted to see her crush a beer can in between her boobs. As she asked me this, she took one of the beer cans she was carrying and poured out the remnants of it out onto the floor next to me. I respectfully declined the offer, but the guy next to me did not. In fact, he got a full-on lap dance from Blondie. It was a sight to behold. Not only did she crush a beer can between her boobs, but she also repeatedly slapped the man's face with them. His head was being used like a punching bag and he was grinning from ear to ear as his face was getting smacked left and right. We went late on a Saturday night and cover was $10. The club was at full capacity and we could barely move once we got inside. Go early if you want to avoid a wait.

This used to be Luna Lounge, which used to be something else, which used to be...you get the picture. Anyways, it's Icon now and on Tuesday nights it's the most thuggish ruggish 25-and under crowd you'll ever encounter under one roof. They don't have ginger ale here - that's not a good start - and the dance floor is a sweatbox where the only thang - yes, thang - goin on is freakin. I'm not sure what makes this an "ultra lounge" but I was expecting shark tanks and Cirque Du Soleil. Instead, I saw wife beaters and hooker heels. Pass.

Repo Records is a South Street institution. Especially now that Spaceboy is closed. I liked Spaceboy better. Repo carries both new and used CDs and is priced similarly to AKA, which is to say that the CDs are cheaper than your huge music stores and more expensive than illegally downloading MP3s. Their selection is geared toward indie rock and post punk, but they have some of the classics. They also have a collection of vinyl if you are into music players with moveable parts.
