by Shawnee Gue on My friends & I went the Friday before Halloween, this year. I had a friend visiting from Canada and it was his last night in LA, so he wanted to have a good time. First thing, they start turning massive amounts of people away if they aren't on "the list." I guess that kind of worked to our advantage because there were a lot of less than attractive girls ahead of us in the line. My group was split up because the Canadian needed to go to an ATM, my girl friend had to get her purse from the valet-parked car and my other guy friend didn't want to valet his car, so he headed way over yonder on Gower. When the two guys got back, the doormen wouldn't let them in. It was just a lot of extra. It took a while for the Canadian to get in but my other guy friend left because one of the doormen disrespected him... The music was alright. It was a nice mixed crowd. The drinks were weak. Some of the people that were in attendance were a little less than savory. There were so many police officers when the club let out that I thought we were at Florentine Gardens or something. I doubt I'd go back there.
by Terry D. on Finally made it out on a Saturday night. Got here around midnight and the line was super long. FYI - the bouncer (caucasian, husky fella) is such a dick! I told him my friend has a spot reserverd inside but he wouldn't let us in. Said the place is too crowded. Maybe I wasn't hot enough of maybe it's because i had the hubby in tow. Anyway feeling super rejected i got my a$$ back in line. However, he didn't let other large groups of girls in either so i felt a little better. When my friend's waiter came to get me I go inside and it was not crowded at all. WTF. Bouncer's dick status just shot even higher. The inside was dim, no music, crowd was whatever, good mix. Didn't really see any eye candy. People were dressed appropriately (not casual but not super dressy either). Drinks were super strong but super yummy. 3 martinis (1 cranberry w/ grey and 2 Cashmere Silk) in 1.5 hours and i was totally hammered. Dance floor is downstairs and like most Rateclubers say it is like a cave. The ceiling is realy low and i felt a bit claustrophic. Bathrooms are also downstairs and they are fairly clean. Don't think this is really the spot for me. I like it better during happy hour or early in the evening.
by Jeffrey Pesta on I just love the dark wood detailing and deep red color scheme. The venue is intimate. The bar staff is friendly and helpful. The music was loud but not too loud if you sit at the bar. I won my tix to tonight's show from The Onion, but would certainly pay $$ to go back to watch other indie/alt acts.
