I wanted to like this place. I really did. But I was so disappointed, that I actually created a rateclub account to save others from what I went through. This is my first rateclub review. I quote from the Sloane website "Sloane removes the pretense and stuffiness, and offers you a subtle reminder of why you started going out to bars and clubs in the first place." False. What exactly isn't pretentious about either having to wait in line for a very long time or being on the guest list in order to get in? I went for a friends birthday, so we had a table and got in after a short wait.  But I felt horrible for the people in line.  I've waited in line and had tables at 'velvet rope' clubs and bars before. Trust me, this place is not worth the wait. Also from the Sloane website "So when you visit Sloane, have fun, relax, dance on the furniture, meet the group sitting next to you and don't forget to take lots of pictures." What you'll end up doing is, drinking too much to try to relax and have fun, you WILL dance on the furniture because there is absolutely no space to dance anywhere else, you will meet the group next to you for the same reason, and you will take pictures to remind yourself why you'd never go again. When you walk in, there is a sign on the left of the door. "Maximum Capacity 49 people." They got shut down at 1 am, because they had crammed in what seemed like 200 people in their very tight space. A friend got kicked out for asking a guy to relax, when he tried to grab his wife. There was no physical contact. Just a simple wave of the hand and a "relax". A bouncer was standing close by, took my friend and his wife out to the cold. Later I noticed the guy and the bouncer were well acquainted. Real classy place. The music. I understand trying to play something for everyone. But when you go from kanye to the theme song from Entourage, without even a hint of a smooth transition. I could swear someone was just playing a cd, for the first hour I was there. Had to drink to stand this place. I will say though, the bar tenders are very nice. The decor is what all the other reviews say it is. But in the end it's the experience that matters. ps- Don't make the mistake of getting on their guest list. They will spam your inbox, no matter how many times you unsubscribe!

Used to go hear every Saturday nites in conjuction with BASE, http://www.facebook.co....  Long lines but if you're with bonitas, u'll have no problems.  I would stroll in round 12am being that its stays packed till 3 am.  Very classy, trendy, and does have bi levels.  Hot chicks, expensive drinks, and famous peeps and performers.

I was super glad to see that not everyone in the world thinks this place is as great as it's made out to be. First, the "lobby" makes no sense - for a place that doesn't take reservations, you have to expect people will be waiting.  Why then, do you include a sliding door that takes up tons of space, and have literally no room for people to wait? The overall feel of this place, for me, is "trying too hard." It wants to be funky, it wants to be hip, it wants to be cool.  The people who go here also want these things.  And it shows that they want it - not that they got it. The reason for three stars and not just two (I wish I could 2.5).... - I have never had a problem with the service.  Although I think they are a bit under-dressed in those goofball polo shirts (see: trying to be funky, hip, cool), they have always been attentive and informative.  For the price point, I prefer a classier-dressed wait staff, but again, black pants and white button downs aren't funky, hip, or cool, are they? - I actually really like most of the food.  The salads are huge, and the rest is tasty.  I especially loved the lobster mac and cheese, but since it's made with orzo, not macaroni, why not call it lobster orzo and cheese, I couldn't help but wonder.  I have been here twice, each time with a different person, one who will try anything, one who was more conservative, so I've tried all different things.  On both trips, all the food was enjoyable.  Special highlights for me: the calamari dish, and of course the desserts. - I also think the proportions, for the most part are generous.  I don't have a problem with the price - it is what it is. You know you're not coming here for your everyday bang for buck meal, so don't be surprised when you don't get that. All in all, I don't like places (or people) who try too hard, which is unfortunate, because I do kind of like the food here for a special occasion.
