Visiting San Francisco for the weekend, My sister in law decided to take us to Medjool after having dinner at some Italian place in Glen Park. She happens to live close by, and thought it would be nice to show us the great view of the city Medjool has from a distance. Medjool is one of those type of places you take visitors from out of town to see the beautiful view. I also noticed that there are many locals that go to Medjools. With a view like that I don't blame them. It happens to fit under a nice, loungy, upscale bar, which was cool. Another thing that I liked was that it is not in a touristy area, If it was then it would be packed on the weekends. It is on top of the fourth or fifth floor, so you go up to the top on the elevator. We just had a couple of Anchor Steam's, looked around, then we left. They also have a restaurant up stairs, so you can also enjoy the views with your dinner.

I like to think of myself as a bit of a feminist (not a feminazi), and when it comes to sexism I DO NOT take it lightly. For the first time in my life I actually saw what sexism looks like first hand when it is thrown at a MAN! My boyfriend and I were coming from the Asher Roth/Kid Cudi show last night (Asher sucked-Cudi was great) and we wanted to go to Rumor afterwards because that's where we heard the band was going. We were both wearing sneakers but didn't look shabby by any means. I walked up to the bouncer and asked if we'd be allowed in with sneaks. The bouncer was nice, but he said we'd have to ask the manager who was beside him. The manager (who was about 1000000 years old and still using too much gel on his hair plugs) whipped around and proceded to LAUGH IN OUR FACES when he said that I could come in "without that guy with the SNEAKERS ON!". He didn't even give us the time of day and then when I told him I also had sneakers on, he said "Well, he's just too intoxicated. LOOK AT HIM!" Huh? My boyfriend was literally standing there-not even swaying in the slightest. Then he dismissed us like we were not even human beings. Ummm why would I be allowed in with sneakers, but my boyfriend wouldn't be? Why would he say my boyfriend was too drunk, when he wasn't doing ANYTHING to provoke such a comment? PURE SEXISM! I've never had this happen at any other club EVER! If I'm wearing sneakers and he's wearing sneakers, we should both not be allowed in. Not only was the manager rude and disgusting, but when I called 20 minutes later to complain, the person on the phone lashed expletives at me and then hung up on me....twice. And that was before I called back a third time and swore my face off at him. Pure and udder rudeness at it's highest level. Gross. I hate clubs like this because they make awful people like that manager think they mean something to the world. I'm still debating whether or not my friend who just became a lawyer would like to have a sexual discrimination lawsuit for his first case!!!!!!

like most people have mentioned... The Park is a "solid choice" and/or your default dance club. no cover for ladies ALWAYS and if you're with a party of girls... the boys are free as well. pretty awesome in that aspect. the crowd upstairs is generally mixed w/ Asians. the loft space is open for a beautiful view of the water. i like the semi-open atmosphere w/ the cabana chairs. the stereo system is horrible, though. the speakers rattle and sound muddled. the humidity of the summer can take a toll on you- so, just simply go back downstairs... if you're with a big group of friends... i highly suggest hanging out in the garden or in the sprawling restaurant/dining portion of the club. it's sleek and nicely designed. i generally like hanging out in the open space of the garden. it's better for conversation and the lighting is just good enough to see who you're talking to. lol. the fireplace and warm/cozy atmosphere is great. the drinks are mediocre and the crowd is lame. i think that's the main reason i don't like coming back here. during the summer... when all else fails, we always end up here. which is why i scoff and throw a hissy fit whenever Javier tries to convice us to go. =)
