I've been to Bubble Lounge on quite a few occasions now. While my first few times here were possibly some of the best nights I've had in SF; lately, some of its charm seems to have worn off for me. Although, that might be due to my complete sobriety the last couple times I was here (minus Halloween, which I have limited memory of). The venue is two stories. Large seating area w/lots of plush couches and 2 bar areas upstairs. Dance floor, smaller seating area, and another bar area downstairs. Decor upstairs is pretty nice. It has a sophisticated feel and is pleasing to the eye. It gets really crowded around 11pm. While the upstairs area is actually pretty spacious, it does not feel like it much of the time. People are packed together like sardines in a tin and it takes forever to get a drink. The drinks themselves are pretty pricey and you definitely need more than one to even get a buzz. No bueno! As for the dance floor, it's kinda small and sometimes has inadequate ventilation. My friend once referred to it as an "armpit", and I find this reference to be pretty accurate. However, when inebriated, I don't even notice this. There's no cover here, which is a definite plus. No need to scramble to make it in on a guestlist. It's ridiculous when you have to pay to party! In summary, drinks are weak/expensive and dance floor is not so good. However, this is nothing a little pregaming can't fix! All in all, Bubble Lounge is a worthwhile place to check out =] 3.5 stars!

I used to live a few blocks from this dump, and as a result I ended up drinking here more times than I'd like to admit.... but to be honest, it's a pretty decent dive bar. It's never crowded, there's a few pool tables, and a few couches to sit on. I almost forgot -- the jukebox kicks ass.
