I did not go on crazy busy techno night, I was surprised that was a thing here because I experienced a cozy quiet lounge, fun waitress who took her time to recommend some great stuff. gosset champagne was the month special, I thought it was super good, almost a little sweet taste to it. we shared it with a friend from out of town and found this place perfect to bring people. food is pricey and not a big portion so don't come too hungry. the duck panini was tasty: duck ,brie cheese, and fig jam the bruschetta was interesting but I probably would not order it again, the bread was like a thin crisp almost like a chip. the table next to us had chocolate and strawberries, with champagne? Sexy! I love it We also shared some cocktails, champagne mojito, a little weird too me peach bellini, yum! they had all types of options from 12-18 dollars. a splurge worthwhile though, I will be back

By happy coincidence or maybe by design (I dunno) three well-known San Francisco lounges that let their drinking customers up to the mic for a song or two or three exist within easy stumbling distance of each other along the Octavia Street area of South Market Street. There's the Mint Karaoke Lounge, the Octavia Piano Lounge the open-mic nights, and then there's Martuni's with its piano lounge. Having (unbelievably) never sampled Martuni's chocolate martini, I am therefore not properly qualified to give a review of the place in full, but I have sampled the piano bar a few times, so here's my take on the piano bar. It's plush. The same piano-coronet-playing host has been entertaining each time I've been there. He is good. He is entertaining. He runs a good lively show. He let's me up to the mic ... graciously... *once* and then if I press him, he'll maybe let me up ... grudgingly ... twice ... but he can be a little bitchy about that ... arguing about my song selection and the like ... even when it goes over well, he'll pout... hmmm ... wonder if there's something about my singing that he doesn't care for...oh well. I guess not every man and woman at the bar enjoys my presence there. So the next important question is do *I* enjoy my presence there? Indeed I do.
