by Eric M. on I came for the Smash-up Derby/Bootie party hoping to hear some interesting mixing of genres. The bad was pretty good, but besides that, I was heartily unimpressed. The cover was $12, which wasn't bad, but the beer I had, a draft beer served in a tiny glass was $5. $5 should get you a real glass of beer, not a dixie cup. The venue was nice too, the balcony is a place as it the Cherry Lounge in the back if you get tired of the main gig. My real gripe was with the DJ that followed. The sound board they set up didn't work and it took a good while to fix, then the DJ proceeded to suck. Boo. Three stars, mostly for the bad and the general venue. One star off for the drinks being poorly done and another off for that atrocious DJ.
by Jenn N. on I am giving this place three stars, because it was a crowd-pleaser. Everyone at my table loved it. I thought it was good for what it was, but I wouldn't recommend it as a great Chinese restaurant. I would recommend it for groups and decent food with access to a bar. I am Chinese and could sense that everything wasn't truly authentic. The servers are Chinese and a little bit rude (impatient, but thorough). Tables are rectangular rather than circular which I am used to in Chinese restaurants. Because of this layout, family style is not done and most people typically ordered dishes for themselves. Chopsticks aren't used. I was one of the few Asians in the restaurant. Great atmosphere and ambience, but somewhat pretentious. The menu and other leaflets kept repeating how everything was healthy (no msg), but do I care? Dishes are rather expensive around $15+ However, the portions are abnormally large. The menu is expansive, dishes ranging from Thai to Japanese to Chinese. I had split a pad thai with a friend which was good, but not spectacular. Noodles were somewhat limp and tasteless. But had a good mix of vegetables and chicken. Good place for hanging out--the hipster and yuppie crowd.
