Nice atmosphere. I'm a sucker for views and this one is amazing. They didn't have Peronis when I went though, and their other beers suck (Corona, Amstel, Heineken Light, Sierra Nevada?) Amstel Light was the only thing they had on tap? Weird. The bottles were $5. Also the location is kind of out of the way for me, not near express train stops and a decent walk from the (local) C/E stop at 23rd, across not pedestrian hospitible roars of traffic on 10th Ave and the West Side Highway. Also it closed early on a Sunday night. Will have to come back next summer on a weekend or some other event night.

Came here last night for the first time for a birthday party. I really liked the space: intimate and cozy. Plush seating. You could carry on a decent conversation. Then again, I was in a bit of a different situation: birthday girl had reserved a table for her party. I could see a lot of folks standing up. No cover, which is a plus BUT the drinks are expensive...at least in my book. The bf ordered two beers and two shots...including tip...came up to be about $40. I'm/we're just not used to paying so much. Maybe this is typical pricing. Went downstairs for a little bump and grind. Super stuffy. Decent booty-shaking music from DJ. A few things I was quick to notice: -A bit fancier on the attire side. Supposedly, no hats or hoodies for the guys (I had a hoodie on and didn't get shit for it). I saw a lot of skirts, dresses, short shorts. A sprinkle of jeans. That is, for the ladies. -An olderish crowd. Something I'm not used to. I would say...25 and over crowd. Started to get crowded around 11. Didn't really see a lot of attractive men...although for the hetero men, I would say they have a better selection. I live under the logo of http://match.com: It's okay to look. ;D

Okay so first off - rateclubs admins may want to clear out anything that predates June 2007 (and predated MEMORIES of Silk City prior to June 07) since that represents a TOTALLY DIFFERENT restaurant despite the same location. It still houses a trailer turned diner with a black, blue and red pleather motif for the booths. The diner counter has stools that run the length of the place. And by place I mean the diner portion because where the trailer ends the lounge/bar begins. There's plenty of alternative art adorning the lounge walls including a reclining nude, a triptych of silhouetted women right out of a 70s James Bond intro, and a few portraits of what I would describe as vampirella. There's pretty much no rhyme or reason to the setup, which fits the vibe very well.
