by Melanie R. on Perhaps this isn't a fair review since I never actually ordered anything here. I planned too, I was trying to attend their Mimosa Factory event that was supposed to happen all weekend, and the rateclub event said it ended at 5 PM each day, but they were all out of Champagne at 12:30 PM. It was frustrating, to say the least. I traveled across the city to get a fix of the mimosa and meal I was craving and prepared for, but they were not ready to deal with the demand that their advertising got. So I ended up at Piraat Pizza across the street. Then I went to Safeway and bought 4 bottles of cheap champagne and a gallon of orange juice to satisfy my craving. (Though I didn't get through even a fourth of it...) I would like to try you again, Sugar Cafe, so please don't let me down next time!
by Dallas Wideman on Came here on a Monday night to see Francois K DJ and it was a good turnout. I was wondering to myself, "Who goes clubbing on Monday night?" Apparently, a bunch of all different kinds of people! I saw hipsters, college kids, older folks (ie myself), semi-ravers, etc. It was nice to see everyone under one roof and getting along harmoniously. I had a wonderful time and the music was great! Diverse sets for everyone. So whatever u're into, whether is hip hop, house, latin, 80s, 70s, or whatever, this place is sure to please. The bathrooms were clean. Yea! The bartending staff could use a little help in the attitude dept , and the prices for drinks were a bit stiff, but hey its NYC, what was I expecting right? I absolutely loved the big huge disco ball, and I want one for my bedroom ;)
by David H. on Smash Up Derby rocked my socks! Their closing mash-up of Paradise City and Sgt. Pepper's kicked bootie! The people were friendly, and the mash-ups were great! It would have been nice to have a bit of room on the dance floor to actually dance, but kudos to A Plus D for putting on one hell of a party! (The goth off was too funny!) Motorcycle parking right outside the front door is a huge plus for those of us on two wheels!
