I came here one Friday night, I knew someone that was promoting an event here. So on the bright note I didn't have to pay to get in. I'm not really into the club scene so maybe I am being a little overly critical but I just wasn't into the place. It was the usual type of midtown club environment. Low ceilings, scattered couches, not enough room to dance, bridge and tunnel crowd, overpriced watered down drinks and loud blaring music. I've never really understood why people were into that type of scene but if you are it's really no better or worse than any of the others. The best thing I can say is that it's the typical night club scene and I was glad I got in for free. Will I come back? If I do it will probably be with a new name and slightly redecorated. I try to keep my nightclub experiences to a minimum.

When I lived in Austin during the mid-late 90's, Trudy's Texas Star was one of my favorite hang-outs. Nothing was better than enjoying a Mexican Martini with a side of extra olives and a bowl of chips with their awesome salsa. I recently went back to Austin for a visit and I'm glad to see that the place is still as popular as ever. When I try and explain to folks here on the East coast how tasty and refreshing a Mexican Martini is, they usually give me a blank stare and reply, "that drink sounds too sweet and bland.' That's okay. Austinities will keep this drink along with Shiner Bock their local secret.
